Local church choir was robbed at gun point. The initial report didnt sound good for catching the guy, with a discription of a male between 20-50 with a gullah accent...

I know I am preaching to the choir here (too soon?) but until you are dead, you aint safe.

I think more churches realize that they are soft targets and some have taken steps to change that.

It is really sad when you can't even feel safe while your singing in the middle of church service. I just can't believe that some lowlife would actually go to Gods house and rob His people. Pretty soon we are gonna need an armed guard at the doors just so we can pray in peace !

Not so long ago i seen a story (dunno if it was true or not) about a man shooting at people inside a church during service. What the shooter didn't count on was a female off duty officer sitting among the rest of the church goers. The shooter was supposedly taken out quickly by the officer. The next day they filled charges against the officer for man slaughter ? I think it was man slaughter but if not it was something to that effect. I never heard what came of it but she was defending herself and others and i don't see where she deserved to be charged for anything !

It wasn't during a service, just a practice. Needless to say, even when I am there after hours for practice, I am not unarmed. Just goes to show that no place is safe anymore..... We have a few deputy's that attend regularly, and a few others that share my ideas.. We also have events for our guys (and one now in the works for the ladies) where we go out shooting. Man, it is a blast.

"Cops: Suspect with shotgun robs church choir"
    GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators say a man armed with a shotgun robbed a choir group at a church in Goose Creek Wednesday night.

Authorities responded to the St. James United Methodist Church on 512 St. James Ave. around 8 p.m. in reference to an armed robbery.

One of the victims told police that a man entered the church through an unlocked door and aimed a shotgun towards the choir area. The victims told police that the suspect then told the choir to get on the floor and to "Keep your heads down, I'll blow your head off.""

Church is only sacred to those who are a part of it. If you have one, carry one every moment you may legally do so.

Here in Virginia, the law says that you can't carry in a place of worship without sufficient reason. Our Commonwealth Attorney General went on record stating that self-defense is a sufficient reason in this particular case.

    I like this guy.

A large part of our congregation took their CPL class at the same time at the ministers behest...apparently he took the rash of church shootings to heart and has a firm belief that "God helps those that help themselves"....

THAT sounds like a church I could visit now and again!

When I visited my mother who is currently living on church campgrounds she told me not to let anyone know I was armed. I asked an aunt who I knew was gun friendly about it and she said not to worry... not only was she armed but that many who lived there were. The church secretary was and the Pastor carried a 1911.

I figure if Jesus told His apostles to sell their cloaks and buy swords for their mission work, that's good enough for me.

I thought I asked you to stop reading my mind. :D

I agree with that 100%. My former pastor and I had a lively discussion after his sermon one day about gun control. We went back and forth for a while. He brought in a PPK to make his point ( during Mass mind you), he'd had to get one of the congregation to help him unload it as it had sat in his nightstand for well over a decade.

Great priest and one heck of a preacher, ( don't fall asleep in his service, he was well known for stopping during the procession if someone wasn't singing.) but that really bugged me.
