.300 Win Mag?

really looking into adding a savage 110fp in .300WM. its a pre accu trigger rifle with a lothar walther barrel as well in a joel russo a5l stock. ive shot quite a bit of .308 and .223 but no magnums yet. i think with a SAI Scout as my primary, the .300WM will give me more power at a longer range.

what do you guys think of the .300WM? any tips for a new magnum shooter?

Muzzle brakes tame them quite a bit with no loss of performance.

I have a 116 in 300WM that is my primary hunting rifle, it was a "package' gun and I finally killed the Busnell Sportview 3X9X40 it came with this past year, I have had it almost 25 years, bought it new and worked up a load with Reloder 22 that clusters a nice group but it will shoot about any factory 180 gr bullet inside a couple inches at 100 yds. My factory stock is flimsy and light, so it is a handful off the bench, I barely notice it in the field, but it is nice to carry. I have shot it a lot, not by some folks standards ;), but way over 500 rounds for a big game hunting rig. That stock should/might be better off the bench, I would assume your trigger is an improvement, mine is kind of heavy, but it breaks consistently and I left mine alone. It works for me.

Are you hunting or target shooting?

basically, what’s the purpose of the rifle/cartridge?

I've been shooting the .300 WM for years...Mine is a Savage 110 FP...threw the stock away and dropped the action in a Stockade stock , added a Badger Ordnance FTE brake and a RifleBasix trigger...

I have never fired a round of factory ammo through it...my pet loads are RL22 under either a 165 grain Hornady SST or a 208 grain AMAX... For some reason the rifle doesn't like 180 grain bullets.

It's a consistently sub-MOA shooter... The .300 is the one at the top...the lower one is a Savage 10FP in .308

I don’t want one myself, I was just agreeing with Z’s question to the OP
