Ronin short range report

Elk creekElk creek Posts: 7,926 Senior Member

So the Ronin is out of purgatory, so I had to throw a few rounds through it! I ran about 50 rounds through it... it ran flawlessly. The trigger is a bit heavy but no biggie I can tinker with that. I love this 1911!  This is 32 rounds offfhans at 15 yards...I had to ditch the billboard grips and put a set of cocobolo slim grips....

I have two. A Kimber TLE/RL-Stainless II and a SA Operator.
Both exceptionally functional Guns. Just.....not pretty.

That is a nice off hand group, that is a good start on a first try with a new to you gun.

That is the only 1911 that keeps my attention right now and probably the last one I’ll buy.  I loved that gun the first time I saw it.  You suck!!!

Fiber optic front and what looks like 10-8 tactical rear sights plus skeletonized speed trigger AND you can hit with it.
    Yeah, you suck. 👍

I have 6 pistols of 1911 flavor. Probably won’t ever buy another.

Thanks! There is a guy that builds custom 1911’s in Gillette that I grew up around. Dad had one of his pistols as a duty gun for the CCSO it reminds me of his work back in the mid 80’s. Dave was/is a heck of a guy. He taught my brother and I a bit about shooting back then.

Nicely done!  I wish I'd have submitted my idea for a 1911 to Springfield years ago.  You could be very well carrying the Breamfisher Signature 1911.....
    Fiber Optic Front sight?  Check
    Tactical Rear Sight?  Check
    Single Side Safety?  Check
    GI Guide Rod Assembly?  Check

    Meh.

Zee hates it because... it's green.  I don't care.

Honestly, if I were to get a new 1911, it would be a Ronin.  Just wish they'd ditch the forward cocking serrations.

It's pretty that way and a good excuse to charge more. 🤑

They do do a good job of holding dirt, grime, and holster debris.  I understand WHY they do it (competitions shooters use them, so I need it!) but for most folks they just look cool and that's about it, in my experience.  I also know it's cheaper and easier to make a bunch of the slides the same way (Novak front and rear sight cuts, front and rear cocking serrations, lowered and flared ejection port) but I prefer the looks of a slide without serrations.
    Meh.
