Dan Wesson that is. mentioned a few days ago I had scratched the itch for a 3" revolver with a bit of horsepower, well this Dan Wesson .357 magnum fixed barrel model made it's way home today.

I have never encountered this model and my LGS had not ether so I figured it was worth having.
Can't wait to try it out. It should keep my interest until I find my 10mm anyway :D

Howdy Dan! Nice grab! So. In the spirit of heavyMax are you going to launch a 158 grain bullet 2100fps out of that crap? He said it can take it.

Nope, I ain't that brave. I actually want to see what I can do with a bunch of 148gr DEWC's I have. See if I can get something suitable to pack this around in the back country.

    I like it.
More times than not I've reached for a stainless 357 for whatever outing I had planned.

    Nice revolver.
On a side note, I had not thought of HeavyMax in a long time

I really wish he would have headed my way...I would have enjoyed watching him shoot.
My Franken-Ruger has been bobbed to 10", but I do have another 357 Mag, that has a longer barrel.  Of course I have a snubby 357 Mag and a 6" too...Just don't tell anyone :D

I must say, I never knew that DW made any fixed barrel revolvers.
I wonder, when, why, & how many?

What 10mm are you looking into? I started to like 10mm about the time the election infection hit so I dont have too many but it is my favorite handgun caliber I've been casting a 170g SWC that shoots well and for bullets I like the 165 copper plated but as you know its almost impossible to find much of anything I have a couple 1911 10mms a Sig and a Ruger an EAA witness a Springfield a Glock G20 and a non working Rock Island all but the RI are good shooters in my opinion the Springfield could have a better trigger the Glock I did a polish job on

A good friend of mine recently picked up a DW .44 Mag with the 3” barrel and was just able to get one of the last new production 6” barrels direct from CZ.

I always wanted a Dan Wesson, but now that CZ has put the production of new DW revolvers on hold, the price is skyrockwting

I was actually fondling a Colt delta elite yesterday at the shop where I picked this up from but what I really want is a Ruger GP100 3" revolver.

I like my Sig Scorpion better than the Delta elite the fact that I have the Colt match gun in a 45ACP 1911 was probably the deciding factor nothing wrong with the gun but I will say that I paid a whole lot more for my Colt 1911 than all my others and I don't see the reason why it costs 2-3 times what my other ones cost

I shot a guys NIB Colt DE a couple years ago. Gun shot  and ran fine, but the mag release spring was wrong. Very stiff. I think they made it too long or put the wrong spring in it. Unacceptable for high end gun like that IMO..

I think I've seen you out and about with your revolver but I could be mistaken.

Tough one to research, can’t find a S/N database. No model # on the gun itself but I’m pretty sure it’s called a 715 fixed target model. The Palmer guns were made between 1991 and 1995 is the closest I can find to manufacture date so far.

That rear sight looks adjustable for windage at least. Is it really fixed barrel? Those Palmer guns were supposed to be competition ready. Maybe I'm just seeing it wrong.
It's one heck of a snag though, no matter how you slice it.

It is definitely a fixed barrel and the rear sight is adjustable. From what I’ve been able to find there were not a lot made in this configuration. I am speculating that it is a early Palmer gun since all the literature has the Monson address. Using up old stock perhaps?

My buddy is a member on a Dan Wesson group that was able to narrow down the age of his 44.  I’ll see if he can send me a link
