If you're looking for a good series, try the Cook of Castamar on Netflix.  This is a Spanish time period piece back in the 1700's.  My wife and I really enjoyed it, thought it was well done.
Distance is not an issue, but the wind can make it interesting!

    Just finished it. The dubbing is a bit off, like a kung fu movie and a bad translation in spots. Good series.
