Tritium vs FO

What's your preferred sights between the two? I install quite a bit of both and there's obviously a pretty sizeable price gap between the two but I'm always surprised when people go for the tritium. They do "glow" but it's nearly unnoticeable unless you're in an extremely low light condition or straight darkness. In that case, it seems that you're going to have other problems to worry about besides finding your sights. I tend to like the FO more because they stand out with even latent light. Just curious what the general consensus is?

I've got plenty of both. I'm still a fan of tritium for a handful of guns I consider to be truly defense guns but the FO is a great sight that you don't have to keep up with replacing.

Any of my night sights that dim are being replaced with FO. Not sure I'll do that to my carry guns and my bedside gun, but maybe.

For years TFOs we’re my goto and I have them in quite a few guns.  Lately they only go on guns that are used for HD that might live in my night stand at night, and the rest of the EDC guns get FO fronts only.

My way of thinking is much like JKP.  If it comes with tritium its what i use.  I like the FO a lot

    I WAS a Tritium Fan-Boy. Through life and experience, I’ve become a FO Fan-Boy.

My reasoning is just that the FO are seemingly brighter, minus in complete darkness. In that case I don't think you'd be able to spot a target anyhow. I also confess to having zero training and the most shooting I do is test firing guns in my barrel at the shop.

I carry a gun while selling shoes for a living. Even if you have Tritium…….if you don’t have light…….you ain’t selling shoes.
If you have light…….might as well have FO.

    Just an assessment. Selling shoes.

Got my first set of FO Tru-Glo in the mail today, I like the FO on my .22’s and the kids like the FO sights the best

Yea, I went through my tritium phase as well, have Tru-Glos on my CZ - thinking "Best of both worlds". And I guess it is, but like Zee says...
I have FO on my "It ain't a Glock".

Put an FO front sight on my red-dotted Glock a couple weeks ago - my reasoning being thus:

    1.  The red dot is now my night sight.

    2.  With the 500+ lumen lights slung beneath most pistols these days, self-illuminating sights are almost irrelevant.

    3.  Replacing them every 5-7 years - especially on a gun that will be running a red dot as the primary - is a costly PITA.

    4.  Im still in the early stages of coming to grips with presbyopia.  I'd RATHER have solid black up front, but in lower light, I need some help figuring out where the center of the blur is.

Still not 100% sold.  May go to a tritium front with a screaming green outline.

FO sights have been a game changer for me.

I prefer FO on my non-red dot equipped guns. Even my iron sighted, tritium equipped carry guns are the type that have the lamp surrounded by bright paint.

My new favorite setup and it’s on all my training guns too.

But, there is the warm glow of my night lights…

That kinda displays my thoughts pretty well because you can see your FO glowing pretty well and the Tritium ones are only glowing in near darkness. I personally prefer the FO only.

The one on the left is best if both worlds. Tritium AND Fiber Optic.
