A little collage from bear hunting this year.

Day one was pretty epic.

My nieces husband ,who just became an American citizen this year, scored big.

His first day ever hunting.
He used at the time my interarms mark 10.

It's now his.

My son and I went near the house another day.
Seems we weren't in the right spot at the right time.

I went here with the big bear killer and borrowed his 7mm.
Mine was only a year and a half one but I did score also.

This is where I shot mine.

The goal after that was to try and get my son his.
3 bears with the same rifle using the same box of bullets.
The bears didn't show just turkeys.

Although the black coming through the corn did have me going for awhile.

Where are the pics of YOUR bear?

    This part is.
There is another 3 week one in November and you can shoot them during the shotgun part of deer season. That's another 2 weeks. We have lots of bears and the population is still increasing.

    No pictures of mine.
    Smallest bear I've ever shot.
He came in alone uphill of me.
I judged him at about 150.

    There was ground shrinkage.
I think he'd have only gone at 120. I was fine shooting one at 150 but 120 I wish I'd have given him a pass.

Yeah this is the first year I've really bear hunted in a long time.
Since shooting that big one with a handgun and knowing I killed it by the death moan and not finding it.

I did a lot  of Monday morning quarterbacking on that one.

What I came  up with was yeah the shot was well placed.
What I messed up with was not just going by the direction of the death moan but instead I was fixated on a severely hit animal going downhill.

The one I shot this year was a lot easier to swallow.

I did post  the pictures for you.

    Nice area up there.

Animals can crawl into very small and extremely hidden places to hide. Bears don't leave a good trail. Stuff happens. A little snow could bring you luck.
