Any Fly fishermen on here tie their own flies?

If you do, you will know what 'Herl' is ...
While culling yesterday I took this Peacock. It measured just over 7' from its beak to the end of its tail.

Biggest one I have shot off this property.
Just finished processing it. A while ago I saw a request on a local forum from a guy that wanted some Peacock Herl so I sent him enough to last about 40 yrs according to him lol.......
When I processed the above bird I picked out some clumps of different colored feathers and thought I would see if anyone on here wants some, along with some Herl.......
Here are some of the feathers....
What I will do is stick them in an envelope and post them to you free of charge. If a few of you want them I will send them all to one guy who can then forward them on..........( I have a small box full)
( And no, you dont get a free set of Ginzu knives)
Still enjoying the trip of a lifetime and making the best of what I have.....

I can zip, and unzip a fly, never tried to tie one ;)
That looks like the ticket for a fishing lure though.

I tie flies but don't need any more feathers.  They're lovely feathers but not for fly tying for trout..too colorful and don't match the hatch.  I suppose they'd do for salmon flies where color isn't all that important. .  The herl is probably the most useful thing on a peacock for fly tying.  You can chemically strip the fuzz off the herl and have good body material for making segmented quill flies...clorox and water will do it.  But if you don't tie, you don't need to strip the herl.
Concealed carry is for protection, open carry is for attention.

Peacock herl is probably the most useful material I use for tying nymphs and wet flys...Honestly, I catch far more trout with bead head or weighted nymphs than I do dry flies....therefore I have an abundance of it...thanks for the offer though...
