Actually it hit 70 here today too. But I’m still by the ocean. Move got pushed back to Saturday now 😭
That’s tough!
It’s gonna be a heck of a weekend. We’ve been packing every day for over a week. Movers won’t take guns and ammo so I had to take a BUNCH of my stuff to my buddies LGS where I do the CCW classes so I can store it there and move a little every time I come back to teach. Just unloaded what felt like a ton of military green cans full of ammo, and reloading components. You have any idea what even a small ammo can full of .58 cal lead balls weighs? I’m chewing Motrin like it’s candy!
Saturday I’m taking a load of guns to the store that he’s storing for me. Funny because he’s keeping them more than 1 day they have to be logged in to his book and then I have to 4473 my own stuff back to myself 🤣.
The truck comes on Saturday to pack us up, I have class all day Sunday and then I drive 6 hours to the new place, get there LATE so I can get up at dawn to meet the truck to unload…. This is gonna suck…
Frozen ground=no allergens, yee-haw! And, lakes are still open from Stearns Co. to Koochiching Co.
Agree.....kind of the sweet spot on the calendar when all of the flying biting things are gone but still open water for a short while. Plus, a lot of the waterfowl that spends most of the time well north of here swings through on migration, and will feel as long as there's open water. Nice to see a lot of those critters that are part timers.
Mild cold front here yesterday. Hi of 60 yesterday, was 28 at my house this morning. Supposed to be back to 70-75 through the weekend.
This time of year is bonkers high desert weather. Commonly below freezing in the morning, sweating in shorts and a t-shirt by afternoon.
When I was stationed at Twentynine Palms in the winter/early spring it was bundle up for the march to breakfast at dawn then strip down to tees and shorts by 10 AM. I stayed sick as a dog the whole time I was there.

I’ve always said I’m a desert rat… I love it. But it’s different than the mountains, which I also love. It gets COLD at night, but then gets hot during the day. During the summer it can be 65 at daybreak and 105 in the afternoon. 40 degree swing. But this time of year as well as spring, not uncommon to be sub freezing at daybreak at 80-85 mid day. A good 50-60 degree change in hours. And the dry cold bites sometimes. Something about 20-something degrees at 20% humidity just stings. In a couple of months, morning temps in the teens are normal, with 50s being average highs… 🤪
