Pretty sure I caught it first this time on the Mossberg thread, beating out Zee by a thin margin.

Do we institute a prize system next time?

Yes. You beat me by a post……****. 😎

He’s pretty easy to spot. So, it’s more of a race than a puzzle. .

Americans in a revolutionary war, a civil war, two world wars and a Korean war fought with wood-stocked rifles. American pioneers, homesteaders and cowboys had guns with wood stocks. My dad and granddad had guns with wood stocks. They are good enough for me too!
What's your take on their smallpox?

My mother used to say this of John Wayne. He played those tough cowboy parts and hero soldier parts then would retire to an air-conditioned mobile home at the end of the day after the cameras were shot on the set.  I want 1950's-quality minty guns in my modern air-conditioned home. I want my cake and eat it too!

A lot of deer hunting in my state is done with a shotgun anyway. I'm no hurry to get a hunting rifle anytime soon anyway. I would probably get a CZ 457 American .17 HMR rimfire rifle for varmints/small predator. I can invest in a cantilever slug barrel for my second-hand Mossberg 500 for deer. The seller of that gun has pledged to reimburse me for the gunsmith cost to dislodge the choke tube from the barrel. Hopefully, he will be able to save my 28" field barrel on that gun for upland birds.  Hopefully, this Mossy will pass my gunsmith's safety inspection and work good at the range during test-fire. It has a hard-rubber aftermarket uncomfortable butt pad which stock of this gun may also need a custom Limbsaver job to boot. The smith might be able to touch up the couple minor scratches as well not too expensive. The seller might reimburse me for the receiver touch-up job as well since he purposely hid this are from his camera for GB photos.

The industry-leading outlet for touch-up work on Mossberg receivers belongs to the time-honored firm of Testors and Krylon.

I would hesitate to take a scratched Mossberg to ANYONE else for that job.

His writing style is that of a gun rag article writer that drones on to fill more pages without touching on the subject of the article. I dont think he can hide it if his life depended on it.
