AR 10 on a budget

Supposing you had a butt load of 174Gr .308 FMJBT match bullets to burn up and wanted to acquire/build an AR 10 for the purpose but don't want to spend a fortune doing it.
BCA has a number of complete rifles under $1000 are these any good? Other recommendations?
And for those who will ask it's purpose, nothing more than punching paper.

Savage heavy barrel bolt actions can be had for starting MSRP's of around $900.  A FAR better system for getting rid of match bullets, IMO.  Sink the extra money into glass.

Davidson Defense has uppers for $400ish.  Complete build kits.    Subscribe to their emails, they have great deals. I'm really happy with mine.  
I picked up a minty Vari X III Tactical (predecessor to the Mark IV) on eBay for a song.  
I would get an adjustable gas block,  slow down the recoil from those heavy pills.

I've got bolt guns in 308 and 30-06 currently. I just don't see myself banging away 1000 rounds through them. The AR, if I go that route would make it easier to wantonly waste ammo

Thanks for the suggestion. I have not looked at Davidsons Defense, nor hear of them for that matter.

I bought parts as they came up at sale prices, be patient and you will save some $. You can put MHS on the hunt for you

I've had several BCA uppers on PSA or home built lowers and I've been happy with them.  BCA is who makes "Stoner" stuff for Midway

sometimes you can find good deals on Diamondback 10's, they're pretty well reviewed and seem to be lighter than other options

To get back to the original question about the Bear Creek stuff-

I have 2 BCA uppers (300BLK and 450 Bushmaster), and they have both been good deals.  I know BCA gets a lot of gruff on the international for being “for the poors”, but my sample side of 2 show them to be solid shooters.

Thanks for the comments on BCA, that is helpful. Putting together the parts ends up saving a little money over the least expensive BCA option but I'm not that interested in building if I don't have to.

BCA upper PSA complete lower is the way to go.  PSA has crazy deals on complete lowers, but their uppers don't come with BCG's. BCA come ready to roll and cost less than PSA after figuring inb the extra parts needed. 

Going this route is not really "building" it is slapping two parts  together and pushing 2 pins in. voila

That is probably about as inexpensive as I will find a complete rifle. Just have to convince myself I really want one now.

Damn you! It's tax time too. That's why I have not been checking out PSA. The seed is planted now! Been wanting a 10 for a long while. Did our taxes today online and the first thing my wife said was " NO, you are not buying a gun". It's like she doesn't know me. I'll get my way, but it will cost me.
