Right place, right time.  Partner LGS offered pennies on the dollar because they really don’t do BP and guy said yes!  Gave it to me for a song.  Unfired Pietta 1858 REM in .36 cal.  It’ll be a cool summer toy to help me burn some of the damn Pyrodex I have laying around.  Funny part a few weeks ago I saw .36 cal balls at Sportsman’s Warehouse and bought a box of them to use as slingshot ammo… fate I guess 🤣

They have a good reputation for sure.  Fit and finish is great like most Italian guns, and it was less than a Ruger Wrangler so no brainer.  

Plus surplus toys are leaving so some funds are available for new toys.

Actually this happened a few weeks ago but I just posted because I’ve been laid up with freaking Omicron.  Just started feeling better today.

I have the same 1858 .36cal, bought it back in the 80s. It hasn't been fired for some years but was reasonably accurate with Pyrodex.
Glade you are getting over Omicron, wife is getting much better after getting it a week ago.

That’s the one aspect of gunning I have zero interest in.  I’ll never cast bullets.  Not happening!!!  The though of playing with melted lead gives me the shakes 😱

Nice revolver.  It should last forever. I have a Colt Navy copy but caplock handguns defy me.  I can't cap the things, don't see how Wild Bill did.  The workmanship on Italian guns I've seen is great.  

In the movie Ride with the Devil the actors of the Rebels carried several handguns each.  I thought when I first saw it that it was improper, but later on I researched it and found that the Rebels carried handguns and largely eschewed rifles, which were slow to reload.  It's a good movie; if you haven't seen it, it's worth watching.
