I have a 6.5x47 Lapua now!

Wasn’t looking for one, but my Mentor decided that I needed it. 

He gave me his MOA Maximum in 6.5 X 47 Lapua that he’d gotten from Ernie several years ago.  Guess my Mentor is getting out of the SP niche. Last year, he gave me his HSP .223 Rem bolt action specialty pistol and this year, his MOA!
Hooked me up with brass and loaded ammo as well. 

I gotta do some deciding on scope swapping now. This gun is going on the list for deer next year. Never shot anything with a 6.5x47 Lapua before. 

Gotta get some dies as well.

 It was very accurate....It was also a bit longer than yours though.

While I’ve shot a rifle so chambered and heard/read about the cartridge…….I have no real personal experience. 

Going to try loading up some 130gr ELD-Match bullets I have and see how they do. 

Gotta get dies first.

Hurry up and buy those dies.

With my Black Widow I have used Varget more than any other powder.

With the 130 grain ELD-M, my accuracy load on my Black Widow pictured above in the video, I use 35.3 grains of Varget for a MV of 2532 fps (15" barrel).

The 140 grain RDF runs 2350 fps.

I think the 120-130 grain bullet is ideal for hunting

Don't count out the old 140 A-Max or 140 ELD-M as a 2350 fps MV, has a 1800 fps impact velocity at 500 yards, IF your MV is around 2350 fps.  I get 2350 with the 140 grain RDF in my Black Widow

Slowing down the 130 ELD-M may be a good thing for penetration on game, since goes off like a bomb in your 6.5 Creed rifle.  What is the MV of the 130 ELD-M in your rifle?  What barrel length?

My .260 Rem with the 16.5” barrel is running 130gr ELD-M @ 2,633 fps using H4350. 

I’ll likely stick with H4350 as I have a lot and No Varget. It’s been good to me in everything I’ve used it in.

That is so close to my 15".  We were working for accuracy first obviously.  One inch less barrel, and a tad larger case capacity makes for a lot of similarities.

I would do the same.

You might do better with the 140 grain bullets with H-4350, but you never know till you try.

Thinking....Even with a slower MV with H-4350, that is not a bad thing...given the 130 ELD-M's propensity with speed and game.

6.5x47 Lapua, capable of launching 139 gr. slugs at 2700 fps.
6.5 Creebore, capable of launching 143 gr. slugs at 2710 fps.
And a .260 Remington, capable of launching 140 gr. slugs at 2750 fps.

The 15" MOA Maximum will not launch a 139 or 140 at 2700 fps.

They’ve already got first round hits at 1K with my XP-100 SP in .260 Remington.
