That sucks Jay. We still haven't replaced our dog after 5 years. We work to much to train a pup.

I told my wife we got lucky with him. He was smart and easy to train. The next one will be a blockhead.

Beware of your wife! After the loss of our GSP, Ada, my wife wanted another GSP. I wanted a smaller dog, say 25 lbs. It took a year, but one evening in a moment of weakness I caved in. She asked, "Can't we get another Short Hair". When I said OK, she was on the phone. She not only had the breeder, but the liter picked. When we went to pick him up, I didn't know which pup was ours but took notice of a big, nose heavy, inquisitive, aggressive pup. I said to the breeder, "That one is a big, smart alpha and will be a handful." He responded, "That's your dog. " 

That was two years ago, and this is our third Short Hair. The first was Hiedi, we changed her name to Musha Hiedi, the terrorist. Then came Ada Alcada. We are now the proud owners of Ruger the Rotten! Most of the time, his nickname is A$$ hole. He's a black and white 80lb,   bundle of energy and intelligence with a stubborn streak as wide as the Mississippi. . 

Never get a wife or dog that's smarter than you! Trust me, I have both 

God gave us dogs, so we could see what unconditional love is.
