Rattler bit the dust last evening
I let the puppy critters out to play yesterday evening in the front yard. They came across a 3' rattlers curled up in the small grove of trees in the front yard. I was able to get them inside before any of them did something dumb. Grabbed the 12 gauge and a dove load. I about cut it in half 8" behind his head. Except for a small skin flap holding his upper & lower body together.
For 10 min he struck at me, even though I was four feet away. It amazed me how long he kept it up being nearing cut in half! I used the marsh mellow forks we use for the grandkids to roast marsh mellows to pick it up and move it out of the yard. I tossed it into some cactus!
30 min later his body was still moving, though just slightly. That little **** had a will to live and inflect a bite if it could manage it!

Distance is not an issue, but the wind can make it interesting!
