Just finished setting up the Kimber Hunter in 6.5 Creed.  Sighted in 2 shots and then threw the first 2 shots from a cold bore basically into an egg shaped single hole.  I have a box of commercial ammo with 4 rounds missing.  DONE!

Here she is wearing a butt pouch with 6 rounds out of the box I sighted her in with and a super light basic sling.  Scope is a Leupold 1.75-6 which is perfect for this wooded steep mountains area.  Ready to hunt at just under 7.5 lbs!

This will probably become my default hunting rig for the foreseeable future.

So what’s your go-to slayer?

Right now it’s a DPMS .308 AR-10 pattern rifle.  It hits where I want it to out to 500 yards… even though the deer I get are usually at 50-75 yards

Remington 700 7mm08 with Leupold VX-3i 3.5-10x40. Upgrades include a B&C Medalist stock, Gre-Tan firing pin assembly (AKA J-lock delete), and Timney trigger.

Its undergone some evolutions as my hunting needs change, but right now I've pretty much hit the "just right" spot with it.

It comes in at about 8.5# loaded, and is just about ideal to carry around afield. It shoots factory 140gr Fusions and 140gr Federal Trophy Bonded bullets into 1/2" MOA with no fuss. Definitely the gun I grab when I get sick of messing with project guns and just want something to work.

Sako 85 Finnlight 6.5x55 with Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x42.Atec Suppressor.
Use 120gr Nosler Bt's in Federal brass or 140gr Hornady Amax in Lapua brass depending on what's being hunted.

I always had a thing for that cartridge...I owned a Model 70 Westerner and one of the few Model 700s chambered in .264 WM...unfortunately...despite several years of tinkering with loads and the rifles themselves I never could get them to perform to the level I desired and sent them down the road....

I struggled as well. What it came down to was COL. After I got the link figured out, became a tack  driver with many different weights of bullets

Managed to turn the charge of dangerous game with my C02 .177 Umarex copy of a 10/22.

Luckily I spined him or I may have been mauled.
