Paddle Holsters - Advice

Backstory: I keep a G19 and a couple of full magazines in safe box next to my dresser. It is really just away to keep it away from my kids. A quick 4 digit code and the door is open. Because it never leaves the house except for range trips, I never bothered to get a holster.

Last Sunday, some crazy lady followed my wife's car into our driveway and started screaming at her. My wife called 911 and the crazy lady left.

From the incident, I learned there is the possibility I could need to exit my house with it where I could not be alleged to be brandishing.

I was thinking a paddle holster might be a good solution.

- we have open carry in Texas. I just need to keep it holstered.
- Around the house I am often in workout shorts.

If that’s your only requirement you can it accomplished with a soft nylon Uncle Mike’s holster from Walmart for under $15 last I checked.

I agree with Wambli, just be sure the belt is cinched up tight. Otherwise you will be be pulling the rig up close to your ear before you clear leather.

For a simple paddle holster Fobus holster comes to mind. While some have reported the holster "breaking" when banged against a counter corner or similar, forna simple legal way or open carry for around home or checking mail etc.

I detest nylon holsters. I'd get one of those before a Fobus. In my experience, unless you're using a belt and cinched it tight, you'll draw the holster with your firearm more often than not, and that's with a holster that lets your sidearm rattle around.
