What's your favorite Revenge movie?

SpkSpk Posts: 4,832 Senior Member
Ok guys, I know you have them so I had to ask.

Most of these movies are silly, ridiculous, over the top or incredulous. Some are serious attempts but most are serious attempts that fail miserably.

It doesn't really seem to matter as long as you like them. A few of my favorites are the Death Wish franchise 1 through 4. The Crow 1, 2 &3 but not 4. The Punisher movies 1&2, the series ain't too bad. Revenge of the Nerds 👍

That's just a few off the top of my head for now. So what are your favorite revenge movies?

Kill Bill - a masterful assemblage of collected themes that's a love letter to the genre.  In the opening credit roll, it even references. . .

. . .Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan - been quoting it for 40 years; unlikely to stop anytime soon.

Conan the Barbarian - John Milius, 'nuff said.

The Princess Bride  - Like Peter Falk says at the beginning, it has a little of everything.

    The Last of the Mohicans
    - I mean, come on. . .it's got a heart-eating scene. :D

I don't know if Legends of the Fall is technically a revenge movie, but Brad Pitt's two trips down the PTSD raging revenge rabbit hole were pretty memorable.

Edit to add:  Agree with you on The Crow, but despite the valiant attempt, it would be very hard for any movie to live up to the original comic.  DARK!

Taken was good.  The first one anyway.  Second was not bad, I can’t remember number 3…

An Eye for an Eye with sally Field and Keefe Sutherland was excellent. Role was completely out of character for her and she crushed it.

Of course there’s Unforgiven, one of the best Westerns ever!   Clint and his buddy Morgan Freeman were just doing a contract killing, not bothering anyone when the  “law” goes and executes his buddy and Clint brings hell back to the town.  And that leads me Tombstone.

A lot of good revenge films out there.

Yup, he really sells it didn't he?

Lots of good movies mentioned.  I like some of the less serious stuff like High Plains Drifter or Pale Rider. They're just fun movies.

I don't remember the name of it. White slavers kidnap a guy's daughter. He calls them on the phone and tells them if they return her unharmed, that will be the end of it. If they do not, he's gonna hunt them down and kill every one of them. It ends up being the latter.

Yep, and he's done it at least half a dozen times in various sequels and similar movies!

Yep, Taken with Liam Nesson.  Also Rob Roy, same actor and of later vintage the whole first season of Terminal List.

    Death Whish 1 and 2.
My favorite scene is when Paul Kersey slowly aproach one of the creeps that killed his daughter and ask "do you believe in Jesus?"

Can't believe no has mentioned one of favorite revenge movies...

Mad Max the one and only original (1979).

If you're a real fan you can name the main characters including Max's full name and the name of the police department he worked at,  not just the initials.
