Montana fall turkey

I came to visit mom and dad this week in Montana. Dad suggested we “go collect up a turkey” so we went behind the shop and and waited a bit and picked out a nice double bearded bird…..  good times.

Probably ham. 🤣
I flew to Montana to visit my folks. Dad had a pacemaker replacement and need to take it easy, well sitting behind the shop waiting for turkeys that might show up….. they did. Great times

It was only 8 degrees… high of 14. That is a beast though! Thanks!

Damn that was a good turkey! Chicken fried wild turkey cutlets, garden potatoes, mom’s cream gravy  and garden corn!  Oh man I’m in heaven.

It was only 8 degrees… high of 14. That is a beast though! Thanks! 

It’s 40 here today and I had to go into Asheville.  I have a light windbreaker on.  The rest of the city is in down coats and UGGs 🤣🤣🤣

It was 52° here, and I went to the range just wearing a tee shirt, pants and shoes

It begins. All the prep is done for mounting the tail.  I removed as much fat as I could and have them all a generous pile of Borax to cure them out. I’m going to try to mount the wings too. That is a 2 foot level for scale.

Well here is the mock-up of the mount of my bird. I’m going to fuss with all the details tomorrow and mount it up permanently.
