Anybody own/shoot/have one and what's your opinion of it.
Wife wants a small compact .22 for CC.

A ex co-worker picked up the .380 for his wife.  I shot it a bit and it felt pretty good in the hand and had zero malfunctions.  I would think the .22 would function just as well and with CCI minimags or velocitors it would be fine.

Same. I have the 380 version and it's peppy for a pocket gun but it works flawless and you can get a trigger and spring kit for it.

I shot the LCP family plenty in .380, but about the closest I've come is a Walther TPH.  I like the concept overall - just have a little mistrust in the reliability of .22 ammo ignition to trust it for defense - especially in times of rushed production.

I would throw this out there - if your wife's .380 experience is limited to the older blowback designs like the PPK, Sig 232, Colt 1908, etc..., I'd STRONGLY suggest she try some of the modern locked-breech options like the original LCP, S&W Bodyguard, Glock 42 (big fan), Kel Tec, and others.  They are a lot less abusive to the hand, and in many cases, weigh less.

Picked up a Ruger LCP II .22 and we shot it today! Nice trigger, shoots great, but like BS said, it's ammo finnicky. Was shooting CCI mini mags and had several FTF's. Shot some, or tried to shoot some Agila ammo, no bueno!! That stuff wouldn't even go off!!
CCI standard velocity worked pretty good, no FTF's. Was also shooting her little S&W Escort .22, had the same issues with the same ammo. Lubed up both guns and the problems with CCI MM's seemed to clear up, but Agila still no good!
    Any other ammo suggestions??
She can handle my 9MM P365 OK, but has trouble with the slide. I don't want to go the .380 route, just 'cause of ammo price/availability.

If 9mm is not an issue, SW Shield EZ
My wife has issues with slides and she can work it just fine.

Eley is making a couple of supersonic .22 loads now - Force and Action Plus.  They've been the last word in quality assembly of .22 match ammo forever.

They're plugging the Action Plus as having a rim designed for looser-tolerance autoloaders that might have ignition issues with their match bolt action ammo.  Might be worth investing in some for actual carry.

Just a few thoughts, I'm not a huge fan of rimfire fed guns for SD for exactly the reasons you mentioned before, they are finicky EVEN with ammo they like, AND when they jam up it's usually messy.  Not the tap rack solution that works with centerfire guns just about every time.  I have a few .22s that I consider well above average in the reliably department and they will never be at the level as my centerfire guns so I just don't consider them for SD or CC options.  I have a small Colt Junior in .25 and the damn thing is basically flawless with FMJ or HPs of any brand.  It just goes bang and cycles every time, and I still don't carry it for SD/CC because I have better options.

If the issue is ammo availability .380 is making quite the comeback and I've been seeing it actually on SALE!  Something I had not seen in quite some time.  So it's just a matter of stocking up now while the gettin' is good and you'll have a capable SD option for years to come.

Last, if she is comfortable with the P365 as a carry gun and the only issue is slide manipulation let me have her for 20 mins on a video call, I have a few tricks that will help her.  BTW my daughter has a .380EZ and she loves the gun!

I ordered some Ely ammo so I'll see how that works. She can handle 9's and is deadly with a 1911, but just can't rack the slides.
There were no jam ups, just ftf's. I'll do some more shootin' with when I get the Eley ammo, maybe it just needs a little break in period!

What do the ftf casings look like?
could be a light firing pin strike since it occurred with multiple brands of ammo.

    1.  If right handed, face the right side of the range with the gun still pointed downrange.  Bring gun close to chest and push the elbows toward each other to work the slide.

    2.  Start with the hammers cocked.  Better still, run a striker-fired gun with no hammer spring to fight in addition to the recoil spring.

Strikes looked normal. Probably the ammo!

I'm sure it's the ammo and not the gun.  Tons of sub par stuff out there from the poor QC of the panic days and I'm sure reductions in the priming compound in every case due to shortages of chemicals.  New level of scrutiny is needed even with typically reliable stuff.
