An update on firearms, ammunition and reloading from down under.....

Due to shortages of just about everything firearms related there is a new reason to buy another firearm.......
If you find factory ammunition/reloading components for a caliber you dont have, buy it then go buy a rifle in that caliber.......
Factory ammunition is very scarce for the commonly used calibers like 204, 222, 243, 7mm08, 270 etc......
Powder shipments are few and far between and are snatched up as soon as they hit the shelf, along with Primers.
Projectiles are in the slim pickings basket........havent been able to buy any Sierra projectiles ( which I use and my rifles love) for the last 18mths...
I am down to double digit figures for my hand loads......and if I have to change projectiles I will have to use up some of my meagre stocks of powder when I work up a load...

In other news, our socialist leaders are introducing a gun register this year...
Renewal of firearms licences takes up to 12mths or more from the time you reapply. ( It got so bad they have just changed the law that once you apply for renewal, your licence doesnt expire until the renewal comes through or they decline to renew it )
Simple things like speeding tickets are now valid reasons to make you unfit to hold a Firearms Licence ( you are deemed to be not 'fit or proper')
Having a firearms licence to own firearms allows the authorities to enter your property at any time without a warrant and search your place....which puts us below the category of Gang members ( the authorities have to get a warrant if they want to search gang houses etc and convince a judge of the necessity to do so)
Just thought I would bring you guys up to speed.......
Still enjoying the trip of a lifetime and making the best of what I have.....

sorry you have having supply issues down there, but i think you will find its a global issue and not just for reloading.
where i work in the semiconductor industry where we supply consumables to places like Intel and so forth, we are having issues getting components and supplies daily.
If and when it settles down and if you have a chance to buy and stock up on some components, you may want to do so.
and a gun registry has just passed where i live. Im not sure how the local law enforcement will deal with it because AFAIK, the law was written and nothing was thought of about how to pay for things and with fewer employees in just about everywhere, there may not be enough person power to do the paperwork and then you have to deal with the databases and so forth.
but good luck on your hobby...
