Where are y’all getting them, and how much are you paying for them. 

I thought I would find them while I was back east, but nope… it’s almost as if it is becoming an antique round like 35 whelen

Always have loaded my own but a quick look shows some available options at Midway and cabelas. Not cheap but available.

Watch out with Hornaday FTX they don't like to feed and cycle in my Henry due to the length because of the pointed bullet

Sportsman’s Warehouse gets HSM and Grizzly shipments relatively often and they sell in the high $40s a box you have to get on their email notices.  The Grizzly stuff is decent.  The HSM stuff I have I’m pulling the bullets and using them as primed brass to reload, they SUCK!!!

Local Cabelas shows limited stock of 405 grain cowboy loads.  That's it.  They are pretty pricey. I've never bought factory 45-70 ammo and load my own as well, so I'm not sure.

On a related note, I have been watching a Pedersoli 1874 Sharps on GB and thought about trying to grab it if the price was right.  But it's chambered in 40-65 Win, which seems to be REALLY hard to find factory ammo, brass and decent bullets for right now.  I could form 45-70 brass and make something work for bullets.  But it's been bid up to my self imposed limit for a rifle chambered in an "oddball" cartridge.

Probably no better than anyone’s.

Yeah, I’ve been hand loading for mine. For plinking/ target bullets, I’ve been using Gallant bullets 405 Grain powder coat slugs at just under 1000fps. They are a hoot to shoot

Matt’s bullets is awesome. That guy has custom sized bullets for me for my 25 yard pistol stuff and not charged me a dime extra. And very high quality. A few emails back and forth and I get what I need.. when I need cast, gas checked sized to .357 diameter, he gets it done and they work…
