2023 winter storm

Some images from the last couple of days getting hit with freezing rain, ice, sleet, and just enough flurries to say we got snow 3 years in a row. 


BUT. Exciting news!!!  Austin Energy has reached its goal of ZERO emissions for almost 30% of the city!!

To make something simple is a thousand times more difficult than to make something complex.

    It missed us. Didn’t stop the morons from delaying school and government services for 2 hours the other morning in anticipation. It didn’t even sprinkle and the sun was shining as I headed out to work at sunrise.. 🤦‍♂️

    I’ve seen some stuff from east of here though. Looked nasty. Pretty bad pileup near Pecos, I guess. Snow is easy. Ice and freezing rain sucks…

    What gets us down here is, it doesn’t get cold and stay cold and snow sometimes.  It can be 60 degrees, then start raining and a cold front move in and drop to way below freezing, quick… Then rain turns into ice… and that’s a problem. People here can’t drive in the rain… much less when it’s frozen… Heck, it’s been my observation people here can’t drive if it’s cloudy. Or sunny, for that matter. So when it rains, and the rain freezes… it’s like bumper cars on an ice skating rink..

    Well we ended up with the rain over the last few days but the cold did not arrive until today.  It was a beautiful sunny day and I cut out early to go to the range this afternoon.

    By the time I made it up the mountain the temp had dropped about another 10-15° and as I was unloading I noticed it was getting really COLD…

    In no time I couldn’t feel my fingers or toes.  I was dressed for cold weather but not for THIS cold.  Then the wind really kicked up.  So I put all my stuff back in the car and went back to the range office and had two cups of coffee with my friends and decided tomorrow’s another day…
