Found My Donor Action: Savage 12FV .308

I hit up a LGS that I don't normally visit on a whim the other day, and spotted this puppy on the used rack. More specifically, I spotted the $399 price tag and .308 chambering:

Very good condition Savage 12 FV in .308. This gun features a 26" heavy barrel and a blind magazine. Apparently it was a Cabela's special for awhile, but best as I can tell has been out of production for a bit. This one has barely been fired and just has some scuffs that look to be from dinging other guns on the rack. The Accu-Trigger is not amazing compared to aftermarket offerings, but certainly good enough as a starting point.
The stock is allegedly pillar bedded, but I didn't take it apart to verify. It is certainly flimsy and I can push the forend against the barrel rather easily. It will likely be replaced.
Current plan is to shoot this gun as-is for awhile (until I exhaust my .308 surplus or get bored) and then rebarrel it to an 18" suppressor ready 7mm08 for hunting.
More to follow, eventually, this will be a long term project.
