Michigan House Democrats pass House Bill 4138
The Democrats are presenting this as an expansion of Back-Ground checks. What they in fact are attempting to do is require anyone purchasing a long gun to abide by the same Michigan rules that apply to Pistol purchases - which is to obtain a purchase permit from the local PD prior to making a purchase and to register the firearm with the local PD within 3 days of purchase.
They are extending this rule to prohibit family members from inheriting any firearms (including long guns) unless the family member obtains a permit, and if the inheritor cannot obtain a permit then the authorities can seize and destroy or sell the firearm 30 days after the inheritor has been informed that they are not qualified.
