So I'm at my favorite LGS today and find this little gem hidden along the back wall!

Haven't seen an Argentine Carbine this nice in years!! Perfect bore, too!!

What is going on with the rear stock, two tone repair?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in that good shape ever!  Wow 😱

Has a piece spliced in, don't know if it was made that way or a repair, but it looks original. Ariska stocks were made that way to conserve wood.

That is a nice pick-up! 7.65 is a fun cartridge to shoot but really expensive. You'll save a lot hand loading for that rifle.

I haven’t found the brass I promised you yet.  Might have to wait till I pack for the move, but I think I have Argentine ammo for that gun too.  If I do I’ll send it together.

I also have a 1909 Argentine rifle, so I've a good stash of ammo and components!

My BIL can use the .40-65 brass if you find it. He has a High Wall in 40-65 he shoots at the Quigly Shoot every year,  and shoots his more than I do mine!

After a little more research that's an engineers carbine. They were converted in the early 1930's. The black section on the buttstock was a common arsenal repair for a  busted/cracked toe!

Got the little carbine to the range and it's a fun gun! I loaded up some plinker loads, 10 grains of Unique with 174 grain Spitzer, just in case the factory stuff was to potent! Had a good muzzle jump with the factory stuff but the recoil was not bad. Sights must be zeroed for 250 yards 'cause I never hit the target!! Switched to my reloads and I almost had holes touching groups at POA! I'll save the factory stuff for the '09 rifle!
