Love these guns. Been using them for years in various forms. Finally got them all on the same sheet of music. From varmints to big game. Day or night……they rock.
In a perfect world, I’ll rebarrel the .223 to a Krieger or Lilja barrel……but it’s sub MOA as is. So, no hurry.

Some Forum Members have used a couple of these to take deer/pigs/varmints.

It’s old news as todays chassis go, but I still have a soft spot for the AICS.

Got the .223 sighted in this afternoon.

They may all three get used this weekend at some point.

In hindsight, I wish we would have taken some shots prior to hunting, none of my crew really got the hang of the .243, maybe too much of a departure from our more traditional hunting rifles stocks, controls, and trigger. We were more familiar with the .308 AR and I think that translated easier.

It was a whirlwind trip. I should have slowed down and let y’all practice some. The .308 is a more forgiving cartridge, sure. And the LR308 may have been more norm for your boys.
That .243 Win is probably my favorite of the 3. Lots of game has been taken with that rifle. My boys first whitetail/Axis/Pig weee with that gun. And I’ve culled any number of deer and pigs with it. It just suites me well.
The trigger is pretty light. That may have been an issue for your boys. It’ll sneak up on you.  I say it’s a pound. It’s probably less.

Ummm. . .long action magnum to round out the set? B)

I'm kinda welded to the .30 caliber platform (especially with the cast practice bullets), but I've always like the .243.  Given modern projectiles for hunting, I can totally grok your attachment.

In my day, rifles had wooden stocks that you could use in multiple positions. Those fancy fiberglass stocks are only good for prone.

    You ruined the rifles, son!

    TRUTH!
It is literally impossible to shoot any of these fancy fiberglass stocks in anything but the prone position.
Plus, the action screws are always loosening up.

I've got a Ruger M77 with a heavy "varmint" barrel that has a Timney trigger tuned down to the 8-12 oz range.   My wife calls it the "giggle trigger" rifle, because it's so light, she giggles every time she shoots it.   "(Bang) HeHeHeHe!"

Is that the .308 you spun a 125gr round fast enough to come apart?
