Got some bad, health related, news this weekend

Been having periods of feeling light-headed over the last few weeks. Went to the local ER yesterday. CT scan with contrast shows that my right vertebral artery (sort of the carotid in the rear of your neck) is occluded from the level of c7 to c2 (Base of my neck to bottom of earlobe)

There's decent "retro flow"  from the left side, though it's got plaque in it as well.

It appears that I'm a massive stroke waiting to happen.  :s

They've added a couple of meds to help keep the left side open

They should not, clots or fragments go right to the brain stem, brain stem stroke means you have moved on to a happier place.

better you find out now instead of rescue crews removing you from your car and telling you, you wiped out a family when you blacked/stroked out.

a co worker "died" in her living room 1 day.  The roomie was there to give CPR until paramedics arrived.  She isnt that old either and the docs were not happy with what happened.  She couldn't drive for 1 month minimum while they monitored her.  they never did find out what happened or why either.

just something for everyone to think/consider while they are driving 60 mph down a road. You never know who will be on that same road in the opposite direction if something happens.

Knee mails are sent and will continue for you.

It may be difficult, but it's better to know. With strokes, time from an onset of symptoms to treatment is critical. You have been give critical information and tools to use.

Dang man, I'm sorry to hear this. Are they calling it plaque or clotting? Only asking because I believe the clot busting drugs only work on the one.

Statins will “cap” the plaque and you can tweak life to keep it at bay.  Good thing they caught it now!  I’m sure you’ll come through Ok and we’ll keep asking the Big Guy to keep you in His Grace🙏

Thanks, waiting for another Neurologist's office to call me regarding my referral. Hopefully he'll be able to shed more light on things plus possibly offer some other options

Found a vascular/endovascular surgeon willing to see me. Should find out if she's willing to do anything by the end of the week
