Range report: Browning Buckmark Camper .22

After my totally craptacular experience with the Chiappa 1911-.22 I was about to give up on finding a decent .22 auto, until last time at the range, the range officer let me shoot his Buckmark. I was immediately in love and had to have one. Not an easy task, 'cause there were few to be found in Panama City. I wanted a blue camper but all I could find was a stainless camper, no problem. I installed a HiVis front sight and lightened the already nice trigger pull by reversing the sear spring, a five minute project. It now breaks at 48oz with 0 creep or over travel. But the proof in is the shootin'. Went to the range yesterday and fired over 600 rounds. Out of the box, the Buckmark is everything the Chiappa is not, accurate and RELIABLE!! I made no sight adjustments, it was well zeroed. I started out shooting about 100 rounds of CCI Mini Mag, no problem. The I switched to some Federal bulk ammo that is made for .22 autos, although it would not even feed in my Marlin .22. Another 100 or so rounds, no problem. Then the ultimate test. I had about 400 rounds combined of Remington Thunderbolt and Yellow Jackets, the crappiest stuff made. It will not feed in my Marlin and most autos, and misfires a LOT in my bolt action .22 and Ruger SS6. The Browning ate all the Remingtons without a hiccup, over 600 rounds total with 0 malfuntions, Gotta love it. I doubt if there is a more reliable or accurate .22 auto, in this price range. Now I have to get a lot more .22 ammo, 'cause this gun will get shot often.
10 yards, hand rested on bench.

Very nice! If they weren't about $80-$100 more locally, I would have gotten a Buckmark instead of my 22/45

Nice shootin and nice .22 Big AL. So what did you do with that 1911-.22 piece of stinky drippy feces.....trade it off? Or give it to your EX-Wife?

I love my Camper...gets more work around the farm than any of my other firearms...reliable and accurate...most accurate with CCI Stingers - almost rifle-like...

Right now it's trade material, been lookin' for something to trade for. Don't know where the X is, but I'd be willing to trade back for the Mod 19 she got from me!!

Buckmark Challenger model, easily couple 1000 rounds through it and never I hiccup that I recall. Second only in accuracy to the Sig/hamerli trailside.
When you are up next summer we will have to run these two side by side.

Those are good little pistols. I just can not get past that gold trigger.

Buford if you ever squeezed one of those "gold" triggers on a Buck Mark you'd probably learn to live with it. Buck Marks have a far superior factory trigger to those on Ruger Autos.

    Great gun

Now the thunderbolts I can see calling poo

The yellow jackets on the other hand :nono:

Those were my go to round for raccoon...... Devastating head shot results

The dogs hated me using them

Great buy! My Buckmark has been a lot of fun! Mine likes the CCI Mini Mags and it tends to choke occasionally on the Remington Thunderbolts. Have fun with you new toy.

I have fired several Buckmark pistols. My friends own them and they catch constant grief about the gold trigger. I never said it wasn't a good pistol. I have 4, 22 pistols and trigger pull has never been an issue.

One can't go wrong with a Browning Buckmark of any model. I have two and there are the best little .22 semi-auto's that I have ever owned in .22.

And so does the two I own. My Buckmarks will magazine, feed, fire, eject, just about any type of .22 ammo out there.
