Obama was caught on a open mike today telling the Russians he can be more flexible in reducing U.S. missiles after
the election. Wonderful, what other secrets does he have planed for us after the election

I saw that today while reading the news. Where is the uproar? The President of the USA talking with enemy number 1 about chilling until he gets past the election then he will be able to work with them on the EU missile defense plan. What a load of crap.

I agree with AlphaSig, that's reality, there's nothing that happened here that any halfway intelligent person didn't already know. Right now I would say #1 enemy would be Iran especially since they're the ones causing a spike in oil prices which our society relies so heavily on. Plus even if you didn't realize that presidents wait till after elections to handle controversial issues and this situation brought that to light for you...what is your alternative? Romney??? Hahahaahaha, good luck.

"This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility."...translation: I can't give you everything you want now, because some people will be really pissed, but just wait until I'm re-elected...boy do I have some giveaways for you!

Or... wait until I lose the election and have nothing more to lose...

I'm worried that he has to transmit the info to Vladimir Putin. The Prime Minister's supposed to be the second-highest position, not the puppet master.
    Meh.

Okay, I forgot about that. However, has Medvedev ever really been in control?

Sounds like pretty normal diplomacy to me.

And no doubt you would feel the same way if it were a Republican president doing this instead of Obama.

While I might agree that Iran and the explosive situation in the middle east is a larger immediate threat than Russia, it is Russia and China who block anything the US tries to do in regard to UN sanctions and diplomacy when it comes to stopping the development of nuclear weapons by Iran. If that doesn't make them an enemy, I'll kiss your butt and give you 30 minutes to draw a crowd.

Getting back to the open mic issue, one has to wonder how many assurances Obama has made to other world leaders regarding the 'flexability' he will have once the election is over, and what his real end game is. I'm by no means an expert on 'normal diplomacy', but this stinks to high heaven. Maybe it's just the way that things are done, and maybe it's something else. Regardless, it doesn't look good and makes one wonder who the man behind the curtain really is.

Well that's a different question and the answer is probably no, but that's just a guess.

I think your guess is more than likely the case.

Absolutely not. This is amazingly arrogant, stupid, and shows his conniving side in harsh light. This shows that he believes that he can say just anything to the American people, get them to believe it, and then do whatever he wants to. He has decided to get the help of a corrupt authoritarian and wanna-be dictator (and former KGB) to help him get re-elected, and then will weaken our (and our allies) defenses so that Putin can posture to the russian people and play like the Cold War never ended.

This is a dangerous game, and if it was anyone other than the Chosen One who did it the media would be crying "TREASON!"

Or he's well aware of the fact that the Missile defense program has been an abject failure and perpetual money pit that has become a feeding trough for defense contractors.

Then come out and say that you want to kill it to save money. Under-the-table deals with former KGB agents is a STUPID thing to do- and if it was anyone else, you would be calling for their heads.

And it's even dumber to do it on open mics... and then try and tell us it's no big deal.

Is this the "SMART Diplomacy" that the Chosen One trumpeted on his campaign? Because it is monumentally stupid.

Wow, I completely agree with AlphaSig. It so nice when people back up their positions with facts. So reasonable!

    That's scary

Now why should you be scared of the government since you like so much of what they do and I was polite and tried to communicate with you in a language you might speak? Now, I am not a government employee, just a member of this forum, a clinical counselor, Minister, family man, adjunct professor and some one who loves to shoot, hunt and reload and shoot some more so I can make proficient shots in the field.

Now, if you don't mind, so we can all get to know you better, do you own any guns, and what guns do you like to shoot the most? Do you reload? Do you hunt and if you do what do you like to hunt? Just trying to be friendly and want to know something about you. :guns::jester::up:

Got to talking about this with some friends today--while it's a PR nightmare, anybody with any knowledge of international politics who didn't realize Obama was constrained by the election is ignoring the obvious. Frankly, I like seeing the candid side of politicians, and I can't be too upset about this because what he said is true, and something any politician has to live with.

North don't mind beartracker. He's a good guy, but just trying to ferret out if you are someone who's here to be more than a political troll. I'm sure this isn't surprising, but people around here can be a bit suspicious about new people, especially people only posting in the 2A section. Might be worth posting a brief into in the Clubhouse if you plan on sticking around.

Thank you Chris, I appreciate it:tooth::up:

I have a couple .40 handguns s&w and Taurus, a mossberg and Remington shotgun, a t/c 30-06, marlin .44 lever action rifle, ruger 10/22 rifle, and a s&w lady smith 38/357 for my wife but she's only shot once in the last year.
I don't hunt but I would like to learn to hunt moose and caribou. I salmon fish but that doesn't involve guns too much other than my conceal carry I keep on me.
I'm very interested in reloading but I haven't bought the equipment yet, I am starting to collect brass when I go to the range.
My two main hobbies are guns and politics hence the reason I'm on this topic.
I really enjoy guns and if I had to start my life over I would probably work towards being a master gun smith just do I could have a reason to be around them but now I will probably just dabble in it more and more as I move towards retirement 30 years down the road.

Sounds like pretty normal diplomacy to me. BTW since when is Russia still "Enemy #1"? I mean I know we're not best friends, but we've been on speaking terms and cooperating on nuclear issues for 2 decades now.

Come on Alph, wake up and smell the roses. Everysince Boris Yeltsen got out and Putin took over, Russia has been slamming us under the covers every chance it has, just like before with the old Soviet Union.

And also, I agree with MMD. It's pretty evident to me. "Just wait til I'm re-elected, then I'll give you the world!!!"
