Looking for some Carbine shooting matches. Or Carbine/Pistol

Hey all, I was wondering if y'all could point me in the right direction to some carbine shooting matches, preferably in Texas. Is IPSC my main choice?
The closest I can find is an IPSC club in Austin, but I figured I'd ask. I'm not exactly sure where to start, or what to look for. All of my rifle competition background comes from NRA Hi Power in New Mexico.
Also, should I find such a match, does anyone around here do this kind of stuff? What do I need to know before hand? I'm very experienced in shooting matches in general between PPC, 3 position air rifle, IDPA, and Hi Power spanning over the last 10 years or so, but it never hurts to ask ahead of time.
Thanks for any input!

Gearwise, what do I need besides holster and mag pouches? I've got an AR, and of course my $10 super tactical sling as well. Will I get laughed off the range if I show up with my US Army issue MOLLE vest to hold the rifle mags, or will I even need that many mags?

Thanks for the input Wambli. I'm hoping this is something I can get tooled up for relatively cheaply (all I lack is a short barreled shotgun), and go to blow off steam on occasion. Knowing me though, before I know it I'll be buying bulk 10 rds magazines for my SIT, slicking out the AR, and getting a fancy shotgun.. D'oh!

Perhaps you could make that suggestion where you shoot.
Wambli and I were at either a 3-gun or a rifle/handgun match one day, and a fellow shot 2-3 rounds then stopped. His optic flitted out on him, he had no backup sights, and he just decided to quit. Which stinks considering he paid $15 for the match fee, plus gas.
Definitely taking that into consideration. The Bushnell I have on my AR has rudimentary backup sights on the top of it, and I just picked up an Aimpoint Comp M2 for cheap. If I decide to keep the Aimpoint instead of turning it back around for a small profit I'm going to go to some kind of tacticool BUIS set up.
Worse comes to worse I keep my standalone A2 sight in the case.

I have my sights set up for lower 1/3 cowitness. Or you can just learn a good cheekweld and use the tube as a really, really big peep sight! I'd try shooting like that just to see how it would work before I entered a comp.
I just ran across a NIB Browning BPS 12ga home defender for a really good price. If interested let me know and I will send you the contact info.

Still pondering on the press, BTW, I'm reading around and trying to figure out what I'd need to do to make it fully operational.

The press is a puzzler, I have yet to figure out how the turret functions so as it sits, it is just a really heavy single stage. If you are planning on using a hand primer, the only thing it needs is a shell holder adapter( about $13.00 ) another $9.00 if priming with the press. Then the only issue becomes shipping, this sucker is heavy. If I can break it down enough to fit a flat rate box it will probably be reasonable, but by weight, it might make it not such a great deal. Your decission.

I have run some IDPA matches with them, and they have a good, well run match setup. Check them out
