The MOA is on the way!

Well, this project was on. Then it was off. Then it was on again. Then it was off. Now........it's ON the way!!!
I succumbed to the temptation and with some goading from Ernie.............I folded miserably.
So, I have an MOA Maximum being built and the plan is for it to be ready by the end of September for a maiden voyage hunt.
This is similar to what it will look like (factory pic).
My Specs
Barrel #1
* .308 Winchester
* 14" long - Stainless Douglas Premium w/ Heavy Sporter Contour & 1-10" twist
* Vais Muzzle Brake (will make barrel OAL about 16" +/-)
Barrel #2
* .338-06 A-Square
* 18" long - Stainless Lilja w/ Heavy Sporter Contour & 1-10" twist
* MOA Brake (will make barrel OAL about 20" +/-)
This is going to be a fun gun! Plan for the .308 barrel is to be a walk around pig/deer gun. I wanted short and compact for offhand or braced shooting. The .338-06 barrel is for when I want to hunt something bigger and reach out to 400 yards or so. Elk maybe? I have a Leupold MK4 3.5-10x40 scope she will wear.
Upon completion, and with my other Specialty Pistols, I will have Mice to Bear covered with SPs.
Nothing left but the waiting. 2 months.........I think I can......I think I can...........

Yeah, so much for intervention.
Obviously haven't done it myself yet, but from my understanding, it only takes a few minutes.

Been pretty busy the past couple of days-Lot of LR shooting in a tac match.
One more day to go. I even took a vacation time so I could do the whole thing.

I completely blame him for this one. No question about it.
I called him for intervention regarding getting a SP in .308 Winchester or a Tikka T3 rifle in .338 Federal. Within 5 minutes of conversation.........I was buying a spare action he had!!!!!! Then, his son dropped it off at MOA for me!!!!!!
Talk about a family of enablers! And......a PASTOR even!?

Once you learn how to operate it, it is a great field and hunting rig.
I typically get around 1/4 MOA groups at 100 yards in load development.
My best 5-shot 1000 yard group in a match before this past June was with a 15" MOA chambered in 6.5-284: 5.25"
With a Leupold 30mm tube rifle scope in 6.5-20 it weighed 7.5 pounds.
It is a more compact system than say a XP-100, since the falling block action is quite a bit shorter than a bolt rig.
Trigger pull weights are something close to amazing with the ease of an allen wrench.

Deal! Next time I'm out there after I get the MOA. You can try it out.
When you are playing the comp game you get a MOA made with the barrel heavy enough to make that 7.5 pounds, once you know what your other components will weigh.
In the bench game you want it as heavy as possible within the rules for a number of reasons.
Also a heavier barrel is going to not be moving around when it gets heated up like a thin hunting barrel will.
MOA makes light contour barrels for their customers. It is all about what the customer wants.
What is ideal for hunting is not always ideal for the bench game and vica versa
