I hope it's gone by next week, I don't wanna bow hunt in KY in the rain.

If it's not raining too hard, deer will still move and you can usually get closer to them in a light rain as your noise will be masked and your scent will be knocked down better.

Fisheadgib, what kind of work do you do?

I do mechanical repair primarily for bars and restauants. Mostly HVAC, refrigeration, and commercial kitchen equipment repair. A lot of bars and restaurants have A/C units, refrigeration condensors, and exhaust and makeup fans on their roofs that are suseptible to damage during storms.

Well today turned into a big pain as getting the boat out turned into a much bigger project than I expected. For starters, one cranking battery was dead and the other weak so I ended up having to get two new batteries. When I pulled them out, the battery tray fell apart. Time to make a new one. Two new batteries, a new battery tray, butting heads with my ex who refused to help with anything even though she owns half the boat, and I finally got both engines cranked. Port side overheated almost immediately while the starboard engine seemed to run at an acceptable temp. As soon as I got out of the marina, I killed the port engine as it handles fine going forward on one engine. I initially thought I would have it out and anchored by about noon at the latest and I didn't have it done till about 5:00. Now the forecast show's the storm moving much further west than what was initially projected and we probably didn't really need to evacuate the marina. Well at least I got the boat back up and running. Once I change the pump impellers and get the bottom pressure washed, it will be ready to fish again. If any of ya'll are vacationing down around this way between now and early November, look me up and I'll take you fishing.
This is what it looked like anchored out and hopefully it will still look just like this on Thursday when I go to bring it back.

Power been out for about 2 hours now and still getting hammered by feeder bands. Hopefully over soon and the power company can come fix it. It is only our street, so it isn't something major..........I hope!

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Avmech and Fishheadjib. Hope things get better soon. Looks like Isaac is going to make landfall around New Orleans now. Wonder how that will work out? But if it does make landfall there, and heads straight North it will wet down some of the drought area in the Midwest. Sure hope it stays at Cat 1 or just a tropical storm, though. N.O. is still just an accident waiting for a place to happen.

I've got family in N.O. proper, and in Covington, just across the Pontchartrain. I'd appreciate some prayers for them.
Also, Mike, thanks for the link to that Bearpaws site. That's mighty handy to see projections and radar from all kinds of different places.

I just got off the phone with my nephew who lives in New Orleans and he's actually excited about experiencing his first hurricane. Bear in mind he's just 22 and he's never experienced anything like this before. The apartment building that he lives in endured Katrina without a scratch or any flooding so I believe that he''l be fine. Worst case, he'll go without power for a couple of days as this isn't really a very powerfull storm. The only aprehension I have about the storm hitting there is all the thugs and miscreants will come flying out of the woodwork should power go out anywhere. They're probably making lists of the stuff they want to loot. On an other note, I think that I have my nephew talked into finally getting a gun.

Do you need a hand tinkering with the boat? I might take you up on that fishing trip offer, as my grandson and I are planning a weekend trip to your neighborhood on the bike later in the fall.

I appreciate the offer to help Jerry but I plan to have everything done within a month. It's just a lot of little stuff like replacing the flapper valve in the head, replacing both water pump impellers, replacing the baitwell/washdown pump, finding the bad connections in the FM and VHF antenna's, and getting it hauled and at least pressure washed and new zincs put on. I'd be glad to take y'all fishing when you come down. September and October are pretty good months for fishing around here.

    10 hrs is long enough.

Wind hopefully will be down by the time it gets to Lafayette.

It can just skip over LA and drop all that rain on the AR, MO and TX areas. They need it bad.

Catching it right now. Local roads are flooding, Pascagoula River is rising, beaches are under water. We still have power but just waiting for that to go. Plenty of Old Forester, Gardetta's and batteries so we should be in good shape if the tide stays out of my living room.

Thanks. Some are still riding around but we're holed up for the duration.

Just got a text from my family in Baton Rouge. They lost power about an hour ago, and have been told that when it goes out, expect to be without it for a few days to a week. Or more.
    Meh.

Isaac is only moving 5-6 mph so it is really going to hammer Louisiana for a while. The tidal surge plus all that rain is really going to make flooding bad. All y'all in the storm path hunker down and stay safe.

Just got the boat back in the slip and all is good. My next door neighbors rain gage showed just under two inches of rain during this whole ordeal. Nothing like what they had forecasted. Chris, (CPJ) I believe that you should be getting that rain that you were wishing for.

That is good news, sometimes it is like that and 40 miles away they end up under water.

The remnants of Isaac arrived this afternoon, and completely covers the state of Missouri. The rain is falling as I type and should be here the entire long weekend.

I do love the misspelling, though.
