I can't give exact statistics but what I can tell you is I worked fewer fatal accidents per year when the speed limit was 55 as opposed to 75mph.
Of course that was before texting was common too.
Let me sober up and I will. You know the founder of MADD (mother against drunk driving,) was herself, convicted on 11, IIRC, charges of drunken driving. No kidding.
...check your state driver's manual, most of these things are covered under what's commonly called, "Basic Rule"...[/QUOTE
My point is why are we getting specific. One is just as bad as the other, so why single out one particular set of parameters. Where is the outrage about the teenage killing someone because she poked herself in the eye with her mascara?
Only the optimists suggest that the future is uncertain. The pessimists have done the math.

On this I agree with you.......but where do you start, who gets to decide what is distracting and what is not?
The issue lies with the drivers themselves, most folks choose what laws are important to them, and which ones to break.
More laws and heavier fines will change nothing as most have the attitude of it wont happen to me.........till it does.
Few days ago, very early morning a driver hit and killed a cyclist, those in the scene claim that he was obviously DRUNK, he claimed that the guy just "appeared" in front of him and could not miss him, when asked by the police he said no to the DUI test which you can avoid here just by saying you don't want to take it, is this the same in your area?
I find this appalling, more so when somebody is killed by someone that is clearly DRUNK!
If this post is non welcomed, I can always give you a recipe for making "tostones".
