870 arrived

The 870 was at the LGS this AM.
Clean, the scribe and paymaster, and I went down to get it shortly after they opened.
Found out that it was a good thing it came because he had already
sold the 887.

Next item of business was to go register it on base so I could use it in the AM.
That started to turn into a process worse than Hogan's Goat.

First after I stood in line for a bit, they said the MP computer was down and
they could not run a stolen weapons check; like it wasn't a new shotgun.

Then before I got out of the building they said the computer was up,
so back in line I go. When I got to the head of the line the computer was down again.

They had a conference and decided they could call the city police and got the check
done and found out it was a new legal shotgun.

I will say they did go out of their way and could have said come back next week.

I cleaned it and did some lubing and went and shot it, it went bang.
It fits me like a glove and shoots where I point it and appears to pattern like
my other shotguns. It shoulders like my Sportsman 58

The only issue was that on the first shot I closed the bolt instead of ejecting
the hull.

The magazine cap has a big hole for a sling swivel stud. I do not like that and
can visualize a stick poking in the hole and breaking off and becoming a bayonet.
So I cut a rubber gasket to put in the mag cap between the cap and the plastic
spring retainer to close off the hole. If there is a reason not to, some one please
let me know.
