Can we comment on products?
I remember Dan being pretty strict about people plugging products that weren't paid sponsors of the site but can we share our experiences with products that we've tried or use? It can keep people from wasting money on an ineffective or poorly made product or let them know about a good one. I guess there could be a fine line between sharing experiences and spamming. The reason I bring this up is that I tried a thermocell last Friday and that thing is magical! Ted N has been plugging them for years and I always assumed that they gave off a ton of odor. The skeeters are really bad during archery season and I always wear a bug suit and gloves but it can get pretty dang hot in the afternoon. one of the guys bought a thermocell and fell in love with it. He claimed that he could hunt in his underwear and not worry about bugs. He also said if I bought one and didn't like it, he would buy it from me for his wife. Well I picked one up at Wally world for 20 bucks and tried it Friday and was amazed! It didn't give off as much odor as I thought that it would and I never had the first bug buzzing around my head. It's kinda rare to find a product that lives up to the manufacturers claims but that thing really works! I ended up taking my gloves and bugsuit off and sitting comfortably in shorts and a tshirt. I wish I'd a bought that thing two weeks earlier as it would have save me from a lot of sweating.

For me, I want to hear real users opinions of a product whether it be good, bad or somewhere in between.

Pro: Always brings in bucks during the rut
Con: They are never bigger than a forked horn.

Dude, that is one of the most awesome pieces of kit I've ever gotten. I mean, the first time I fired that sucker up in the midst of a skeeter swarm............you'd have thought we were the first people in the world to discover fire. We just stared at it like speechless Neanderthal idiots. Had we not needed to be quiet and all, we'd have probably played out a scene from Quest for Fire. Rolling around hooting and hollering.
That sucker was a miracle before us!!!!
Tastes like piss.
Is that a pro or a con for you Zed?
Well, unlike my own, it's not sterile and I don't like the taste. (what movie?)
If there is even a slight breeze, not so good.
That's my experience, too. They wook very well in heavy, windless woods with light wind. Windy areas like the open fields in Nebrsaka, Kansas or the rest of the midwest? Not so much. That said, I own one and love it within its limitations.
Well, that's kind of a given. In a slight breeze, I place it just up wind of me and it still works. In heavy wind, Mosquitos or generally not as much of a problem.
Either way, yes, it is best in still stagnet air. When Mosquitos are at their worst.
