Got me a new truck

SirGeorgeKillianSirGeorgeKillian Posts: 5,463 Senior Member
Had to let go of a big part of my life. Something about growing up, having a family, wanting to expand the family...
Here is what I had uploadfromtaptalk1351721099743.jpg

That was sold on Sunday, and on Monday I bought this:uploadfromtaptalk1351721241629.jpg

Sorry for the crappy pic, as I came down with strep the same night. The truck is a 2012 crew cab ( the full four door) in true blue. She has the Hemi, and is 2wd. So far I have drove it home, and to the doctors office. I like it, I miss the Jeep, but this is the first practical vehicle I have bought in my life. So far my rolling average MPG is 18.5 which is up big from my 13 of the Jeep. Enjoying it so far.

The 2 year old loved the Jeep, but I wouldn't even want to try to put a newborn in there! We aren't expecting or anything, just talking about the future.

The blue grew on me. At first I was like Meh, but now I like it. I think it is the sparkles in the paint, kinda like a bass boat.

Well, with that nice roomy back seat...

Hemi would be a cool first name.

I'm letting go myself....in steps.....pretty soon I'll have a Tacoma like Knitepoet.....love those trucks for some reason....there should be a support group for Jeep people like AA.....how to let go and move on. Seems simple for some people....but this is a Jeep thing...you wouldn't understand.....:tooth:

It hurt to let the jeep go. Even with weeks of her mom coaching her, Kimber was sad to see it go too. When I was looking at new trucks she told me that she "can't want daddy to get a truck, get a purple jeep!"

Sweet looking Ram! Too bad you had to wave goodbye to the Jeep, I know I miss mine, I sold it almost 2 years ago to a buddy of mine but at least I still get to drive it around the ranch during hunting season. I bought my dodge Ram about 6 months ago, a 2010 2500 Laramie with the 6.7 diesel. I am very happy with my Ram and I'm sure you will like yours too.

They are a statement, they are a way of life....They are the hot girlfriend you have to let go when you come to grips with life with your wife.

We got a Colt, a Kimber, and now even a little Springfield. Hemi is nice, it just doesn't fit...

Yea with three growing boys lots of hunting and fishing trips we needed the extra room.

I absolutely love the truck 75mph down the highway and 18mpg. Hook the boat up no change on mpg's hook the horse trailer up it goes down about 3-4mpgs. Fold the back seat down put an air mattress down and it's like a full size bed. Love it.

    SGK,

Congrats! I like the looks of Dodge's Ram line, even though I'm a Ford Fanatic.

Short bed? What's the Max Payload?

Time to get a pop-up truck camper.

    Nice Job.

The bed is very short, the wheel wells almost begin at the front of it. 5.7 feet I believe.
No sure of payload, or tongue weight, but it's rated to pull a hair over 10k. Gotta read up on that other stuff :tooth:

I could see that with yours all jacked up. I'm hoping my stock one will be fine when the one on the way is here.

My stock height rubicon with a hard top was perfect. It sounds ghetto, but I would load the kid up from the rear of the Jeep while she was rear facing. It was actually easier than any vehicle I've ever put her in. And the rear glass from the hard top acted like a roof when it was raining. Kimber loved it back there too, there were plenty of windows her her to look out of.

Someone on a Jeep forum mentioned that. Much easier than dealing with the fold and tumble front seat. That's the plan. Of course I will probably have my soft top on in June. I just put the hardtop back on last weekend.

What is it? And do I sense a strong anti-Harley sentiment at your house? And how is it that you also abandoned four wheel drive when you sold your Jeep? I'm surprised you did both.

Newborn in a Jeep is no problem, just get used to banging the car seat handle off the roll bar. Luke came home from the hospital in my 2 door '06 lifted Wrangler unlimited. I loved it and I still miss it but comparing the 12 MPG it got with the 38.9 my Corolla gets is a no brainer financially. However the new quad can Tacoma is tempting me every time I see one. Have to get the wife a new car first.
No, I do not have a pink fuzzy bunny fetish but apparently my Facebook hacking wife does.

I can only speak for myself. But I greatly prefer torque. And for real torque you need a diesel. Bikes are all well and good, and jeeps are cool if you're sixteen. But for me? Nothing gets me going like the sound of a diesel.
