Tactical pen recommendation
I'm looking into buying a tactical pen and am looking for some recommendations. I've done a little research and some of the features I think I'm interested in are:
A twist function to use the pen. Don't think I want a removable cap, either screw type or click type, as I plan on using the pen part regularly and don't want to have a loose cap to worry about or loosing part of the pen during a self defense scenario.
A pointed end, not worried about a "DNA catcher" but if it had one in addition to a pointed end, that would be fine.
Good quality
Good grip
I've seen some of the S&W models and some from UZI. Most had some of the qualities I'm looking for but not all. What else should I look at? What do you use and why is it a good choice? I not interested in spending a small fortune either. I'm looking in the ballpark of $30.
Thanks!

P.S. Also has glass breaker tip.
Ah, I see. Do you need an operator's license to carry one?
Ha ha ha... I'm not the one that decided to call these things "tactical", that's just what they are called.
My job requires me to go through airport security multiple times a week and spend several nights in different cities in hotels. I can't bring a traditional self defense weapon of any sort with me so this is a compromise I can use while walking to/from the hotel and dinner. I also bring a very bright and sturdy flashlight that I could also use to defend myself. A "tactical pen" seems like a great option for me since I also do a lot of signing my name, ect...
Anyway, thanks for the recommendations.
I'm not sure, but I'm a little dubious about it being mightier than a sword.

I actually read a similar thread on another forum and then read this one. I popped back into his one on my phone when I got home from work and still had the other browser open. So now he knows about it twice and the poor guy on the other forum doesn't know where to look. Must be getting too senile in my old age to handle 2 browser windows at once. I should go let he other guy know about the pen now lol
Hmmm. . .would a Tactical Paperclip double as a carabiner for rappelling? I've been thinking about a Tactical Necktie that can latch onto a single-point AR-15 sling adapter. . .

Forget I asked. Besides, I just bought the new Black Ops game for my XBox so I gotta go gear out for a hard core all day and night marathon of that! Yeah! :cool2:

These are tactical pens, people don't freak when they see them and the ones of metal construction can do good damage to the face and neck in short order. (fine christmas gift also)

This style of pen is only tactical if no one sees it before you need it.
If you want to break glass, just carry a Leatherman.

I remember that scene. One of my favorite movies.
Yes but can a mafia hit qualify as tactical? I was thinking more of a Jason Bourne knife vs pen fight scenario myself. By the way I disqualify that pen as being tactical on the basis of it lacking at least one picatinny rail. :jester:
You get caught with pen, they make you leave it. They catch you with blade, you go to jail.
Remeber the guy who took one on a plane, then called a radio station to brag about it? They arrested him.

You don't need much but a little knowledge to break tempered auto glass. Ive done it with my bare hands (no gloves) before with out the first cut. I've used a car antenna to completely clear a window before. Here is a good example. Most of the time these gimicks for glass punches are made up by people who are looking to make money. Sure I carry a punch because it's something I may have to do every day, but in an emergency believe me, I'm not wasting time looking for something to break out glass!
Lots of knives, black jacks, scissors, screwdrivers and so on, she worked at a pharmacy and had a gift for taking weapons from drunks and street thugs without them noticing.
Guy I knew just days after 9-11 took a ceramic knife from PR to NYC, both ways, in his carry on, stuck the blade on a tub of toothpaste.
I wouldn't get a branded one for that reason. If it has Surefire emblazened across it, then it's kinda hard to argue you didn't know it could be used as a weapon....
