A tiny bit of justice for Sabina Rose O'Donell, family, friends, and neighbors

Two years ago I posted a story on here about this murder, which happened less than 2 blocks north of where we live. We don't know Sabina personally, but frequent the restaurant where she worked. The murder hit the neighborhood really hard even though most people here seem nearly unfazed by violent crimes. She was a young frail girl about to turn 21. The murderer, Donte Jonson, 18 years old at the time he committed the robbery, rape, and murder. A few hours ago, a 1st degree murder guilty verdict was returned and the judge sentenced the murderer to life plus 40-80 years for other charges. We are all very relieved that justice is served for the time being (there may be an appeal).

A horrible crime, one wonders how much Justice is there really, the poor woman is still dead, and this creep will be well cared for at taxpayer expense.

Indeed! There was some back and forth on the death penalty decision, but I am not sure why the prosecution decided against it in the end (http://www.phillytrib.com/newsarticles/item/3901-court-begins-choosing-jury-for-rape,-murder-case.html). Originally, he was going to plead guilty to get life, but then fired his court-appointed attorney, hired a private lawyer and went to trial instead.

Too bad they won't be able to send him to Tennessee or Alabama, or maybe Texas to serve his "life" sentence.

The motive is not monetary gain, that is ancillary to the actual motive / crime of violent rape, then murder to eliminate a witness.....

The Human race is not at fault, only the Monsters that should be culled from the Human race.

    ( Edited - animals ) corrected.......

Funny, someone said that over another discussion the other day. I've never thought of it that way, but definitely a good point.
