Yellowstone and Cody Museum vacation... (Pic Heavy)

About two weeks ago Ana and I went to Yellowstone for a few days. I have been there once before but it was her first trip. To say she loved it would be the understatement of the decade. We camped at the Lewis Village campgrounds Thursday and Friday nights, nice campground but fairly noisy. We spent Saturday night outside the NE entrance right on the WY/MT border, much quieter but LOTS of mosquitoes. Sunday morning we drove to Cody and spent most of the day at the Cody Museum, the firearms museum is outstanding but there is lots more to see as well. They have a great plains indian exhibit, a really well done natural history section and tons of Buffalo Bill stuff plus lots more. A must see if you are anywhere near Cody. From Cody we continued on to Thermopolis and spent the evening soaking in the hot springs before spending the night at the Paintbrush Inn.

If you have never been to Yellowstone, you really must make the time to go. We're already talking about going back next year.

Whenever someone posts photos of elk and deer wandering around town, I hear strange voices in my head. They say:

Interesting the museum is so far from his grave.

We toured Yellowstone and Cody twice, once on the way to Portland Oregon to help my brother pack up for his move back to Nashville, and again on the return trip. The museums are awesome! I also got a tour through the Ballard Rifle works in Cody, before they got bought out by another company. They built some excellent-quality guns!

He was visiting his sister in Denver when he died suddenly from liver failure. His grave is about 30 minutes drive from my house.

Nice photos. Was that a trip on the KLR? I'm guessing that might be a bit far for two on the bike but would have been way cool.

No, last year was on the KLR. This year was in the RAV4, a little more comfortable and we could bring way more crap. Hard to fit much beer on the bike.

I used to have an old 4runner that I put a ton of work into but it got stolen a few years back.

I remember now. Couldn't believe it at the time. That must have hurt.

That chipmunk sure likes to get his picture taken. This is probably the same one.

Did you go down the stairs to get a close up of the falls? What a butt kicker for a fat boy like me at that time!

Of coarse if you read this sign and believed it, you wouldn't.

I was also treated with an oppertunity to take this photo of a sow with three cubs......on our LAST day there.

We went down to the falls on the other side of the river, we'll be sure to go down the other side next time. The side we went down is pretty darn steep too.
