12 gauge under the matress?

Is this a viable place to stash a loaded 12 gauge in case...
If this post is non welcomed, I can always give you a recipe for making "tostones".

    If you put one under the mattress, don't chamber a round. It might be possible to get a really disastrous kind of "unintended discharge"!

    Could be, depending on how far underneath the matress you put the gun...

    One thing I like about my DeSantis holster, it fits nicely over the rope carry handle most matresses have, so I need not add or require any other bedside gun holder...

    That is how it is right now and there is a loaded handgun in a holster at arms reach as well.

    Oh never mind !!! The under the mattress is a poor idea, too hard to get to if you need it, a barrel longer than 20 inches is a bit too long for in home use......

    I guess its better than no protection at all.................Personally I would prefer to use a con...........um.............some other form of protection.

    Not ideal for quick access, especially if you have a water bed...

    Maybe it would be cheaper to have it made at a local machine shop ??.....

    Not a poorly thought out plan...The only problem with keeping stuff under the bed is that you're leaving your firearm in one place a thief pretty generally always looks. That is assuming you don't lock it up when you're away from home....

    An alternative to the "under the mattress" or "under the bed" scenario is a set of shaker pegs or other maskeshift gun rack inside a bedroom closet, over the door frame. Even if a thief opens the closet door, the gun is out of sight, unless he goes inside the closet, turns around, and looks up. A homeowner can access the gun easily, and it's out of sight and out of reach of curious children.

    Home depot ladder hooks or bicyckle hanging hooks work great for that. Easy to install, and rubber coated to protect the gun's finish

    This is why, when you are home, the gun lives next to the bed...it would only go in the closet when you are leaving for the day...

    Home defense guns locked up in a safe are really hard to get a hold on FAST and that is of paramount importance!

    What ever guns I have out for home defense go back in the safe when the house is empty. I don't want to walk in to a burglary that turns into a gun fight with my guns.

    I keep mine under the bed. I really don't see how it could be quicker or easier access under a mattress???
    The only advantage I can see to under the mattress is a home invader could not get to it as easilly as under the bed, but honestly if you let a home invader get all the way to your bedside without waking up... you better hope you have hand gun protection because it is going to be a be-otch to pull out a long gun at close range like that.
