  You're in .25-06 territory, velocity-wise, with a case slightly over half its capacity. Like Paul says, I'd want to have a LOT of distance between me and anyone shooting a load like that! There's a bunch of good reasons they don't call that round a ".250-3000" anymore. It can't reach 3000 FPS safely. It was overpressured when it was first developed, and 75 years of load tinkering haven't repealed any of the laws of physics!

  Edited to add: I've looked at Alliant Technologies, and they don't list Reloader 17 for the .250 Savage. I've always been cautioned that if a company doesn't list their powder in a chambering, there might be a reason for that.

  That's what I was thinking. I remember when I was loading 110 gr Accubonds for my 25-06, it took a MAJOR dose of Retumbo or 4350 to get them to 3100 fps. 49 grains or so IIRC.
