One more reason for 30 round mags

NORTH AUGUSTA — One man is dead and two are recovering after being shot by a gun store owner during a burglary of his business Thursday morning.

Stephen Bayazes Jr., 57, told officers that he and his wife were asleep in an apartment at the back of the business, Guns & Ammo Gunsmith, 522 Edgefield Road, shortly before 4 a.m. when he awoke after hearing a loud crash and the activation of a silent alarm.

Bayazes grabbed an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle and found three men loading guns into a van that had crashed through the side wall of the store.

After hearing the men yell to kill him, Bayazes shot one 30-round magazine of .223-caliber bullets before retreating to his bedroom to reload, he later told officers.

When our governing officials dismiss due process as mere semantics, when they exercise powers they don’t have and ignore duties they actually bear, and when we let them get away with it, we have ceased to be our own rulers.

Good for the gun-shop owner. :guns:

I'm actually surprised that most of the comments were supportive of the owner , the RKBA , and the shooting of the perps.

3 men 30 rounds ? well bad shots need 50 RND mags ! He better starts range practice untill he can hit one guy per shot or one kill per shot depending on the scenario....
The problem too is the BACK stop , in a public place out of target bullets can mean unwanted collateral damage , so I insist that Extra capacity mag is included with the proper training in Urban shooting expertize ...

At any rate Judge...this ain't bench rest shooting - there are many factors that can contribute to multiple rounds being fired...did you catch that this incident went down at 4 a.m....hours of darkness complicate things, not to mention the inevitable adrenaline surge, what if the BG doesn't go down with one shot? several things to consider....there is also the "anything worth shooting is worth shooting a lot" thing to consider.

So tell me...since statistics tell us that most men are confronted by a single attacker....would you only carry one round in your defensive handgun?

Shoot under the stress of adrenaline while fighting back panic and getting stuck in the OODA loop. He did just fine. You can't armchair QB this thing.

And given that he was likely in a majority commercial district at 4am, your backdrop is very likely just more walls.
