"KALISPELL, Mont. – A man dressed in a military-style "ghillie" suit and apparently trying to provoke reports of a Bigfoot sighting in northwest Montana was struck by two cars and killed, authorities said.

The man was standing in the right-hand lane of U.S. Highway 93 south of Kalispell on Sunday night when he was hit by the first car, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. A second car hit the man as he lay in the roadway, authorities said.

Flathead County officials identified the man as Randy Lee Tenley, 44, of Kalispell. Trooper Jim Schneider said motives were ascertained during interviews with friends, and alcohol may have been a factor but investigators were awaiting tests.

"He was trying to make people think he was Sasquatch so people would call in a Sasquatch sighting," Schneider told the Daily Inter Lake on Monday. "You can't make it up. I haven't seen or heard of anything like this before. Obviously, his suit made it difficult for people to see him."

Ghillie suits are a type of full-body clothing made to resemble heavy foliage and used to camouflage military snipers.

"He probably would not have been very easy to see at all," Schneider told KECI-TV.

Tenley was struck by vehicles driven by two girls, ages 15 and 17, who were unable to stop in time, authorities said."

Those poor girls. My heart goes out to them. That they should have such trauma in their lives because of one drunken idiot.

Was the 15 year old sitting on the 17 year old's lap and they were both steering? lol

Two vehicles, two drivers. I wonder if the 15-year-old was licensed, though. Several years ago, my daughter was driving to work at 4:30 AM on a rural Alabama 2-lane highway and hit and killed a 14-year-old girl who was walking in the middle of the road. The girl was dressed in black, and was facing away from traffic. She and two friends had spent several hours hanging out at a nearby all-night convenience store trying to buy cigarettes. It was several hours before the body could be identified because her family thought she was spending the night with a friend and the next day was a school holiday. The incident was terribly traumatic for my daughter. There was absolutely nothing she could have done to avoid the accident, but it was an emotional shock for her just the same. Stupidity has consequences, and the stupid people aren't the only ones who suffer!

Yet another Darwin nominee. And yes, despite the younger gal probably driving illegally, a bad memory for both kids.

Thing is, when you think about it, Bigfoot doesn't even WEAR a ghillie suit! So the guy was wrong even while trying to be stupid.

Maybe Bigfoot DOES wear a ghillie suit, that's why we can't find him.

Nah, Bigfoot got turned on to using Shick products and now lives in Venice Beach Ca. Sure he's a little different but who is going to notice there?

Not necessarily Sam, in lots of rural areas, you will find farm and ranch kids of that age legally driving pickups, grain trucks, etc etc. and from my time around Kalispell, it's pretty damned rural...

It's not just rural or farm/ranch kids here. As young as 14 you can get a "learner's permit". You have to have a good reason, but it's not like buying a gun in Illinois. They're pretty lenient.

15 1/2 to get permit here in Ohio..... Must have a licensed driver with you at all times though...

I sincerely hope that you clowns who are laughing about a man's death never have to be the one driving when a pedestrian becomes a statistic under your wheels. Even if the accident is unavoidable, I don't think it will be quite so funny when you're the one looking down at a broken-up body and wondering what you could have done to avoid the situation. Or, maybe you'll be so callous you just don't care! The guy was stupid, and possibly drunk. That's not a good reason to stop living, and it's certainly no reason to joke about the young women who will have to live with the memory of his death at their hands for the rest of their lives.
