I just double checked what prices I can get the same ammo for from several sources:
Midway - $10.39 (Dealer Price)
Cheaper Than Dirt - $9.80
Cabelas - $8.99 (on sale)
They had steel case Russian crap for less but I hate that stuff.
If you would like, I could link you to several sites that have good bulk deals with good shipping prices. It kind of becomes a game because SO MANY different places will have sales going on at different times. Not just the major (usually overpriced) outfitters, but the more obscure, but reliable ones also.
Ya got that right calbib, I too lived 23yrs in and around the Denver,Co area, everything is expensive in that state!!!!!!!!!!!
So, are you building a new .223 rifle?
About 40 cents a round. It's good to have some factory .223 around for comparison, even if you reload like I do. I think I can cut that cost in half even using Hornady 55 grain FMJs (bought in bulk).
Hey, if it's a good price in your area, buy all your wallet will allow. :guns:

I've bought Federal American Eagle 55 gr. on sale at Cabela's before for $6. Best deal I've ever found for non-steel case. Otherwise- Gunbroker is your friend.
Ever since Dick's asked me to fill out a bunch of crap (I answered NYB for everything) that was above and beyond what the Feds ask for and escorted me out the door holding a locked up shotgun like I was a criminal (even though I had a loaded pistol in my pocket), I haven't wanted to spend my money there no matter what prices they have. I will never set foot in another Dick's again. They were literally dicks.

You can do much better on 55gr FMJ.

Depending what you mean by basket full, you probably could have gotten a better deal in bulk online including shipping.
Granted, I am splitting hairs here, because you got the ammo. you wanted right then at a decent price for the area.
Not sure how much 55 gr. .223 you blow through, but I go through a lot so I look for best deals in bulk.

That's about the cheapest I've heard of. I get a pak of 200rds of 55gr FMJ Prvi Partizan for $70.
