Most Awesome Squirrel Woods I've Ever Seen!
And I've been in and worked in the woods all my life!
Went back up home in the Mountains this past week-end to the annual Plott Reunion (yea, the Plott Hound Family) and one of my ole-time friends told me about a place he wanted me to come up and hunt with him this Fall.
We slipped up in the woods there yesterday to look around a little, and I've never seen as much deer sign and bear sign as I saw there! And squirrels....MY God at the squirrels! Problem with squirrels is, though, that this is the tallest timber I've ever seen in the Southern Mountains....ever shot would be a 65 yard shot even standing close to the tree the squirrel was in, and the meat would be too bruised up to be any good when it hit the ground :tooth:!
On a serious note....it is one of the very best places I've ever seen and I fully intend to go back up next month and get a bear and my limit of squirrels each day for 2-3 days. All with a flintlock, too!
