Effective shooting training with out firing a shot.

Stopped by the local gun store/ range looking for a recoil pad for my pump gun, anyway the had a guy working in the digital combat range. Digital Combat Range? It was free so what the hell. I went through several sessions between others that came in. I was blown away.

You go into this average sized room and the computor is on and ready. They hand you a Glock 9mm and start you off with simple silhouette targets, Then move you up some moving targets. The Glock in your hand has a lazer transmitter in the barrel. When you pull the trigger it transmits a lazer which the overhead sensor picks up the signal. The lazer is not visable to the shooter. In the magazine well there is the lazer as well as a c02 cylinder. The Co2 operates the slide and for the recoil effect. The Glock used can be loaded with a real magazine and fired on the range so it is a real pistol. Very realistic along with the audio of the shot it's convincing.

The picture is on the wall with digital picture quality. Once you run a simulation you can replay showing the hits and misses as well as the time between shots and between the action on the screen and the time of your responce. A subject points a gun at you on the screen you shoot and they fall. Other offenders may appear or the first subject moves to fire again because you only hit 'em in the leg. All subjects hit with a kill shot do not move just like real life. This program is awesome. There are over 300 training sessions to choose from.

There is an instructor with you during the shooting. The guy that was helping me realized I was an experianced shooter with a high hit count. He watched me during the session and came up with some recomendations as far as stance and proper technique. Very interesting and effective. Don't ever pass on coaching, it helps. The program also shoots back and tells you when you are hit. You can simulate going to cover behind a table and how to check out a room safely. This thing is awesome and what you learn there carries over to the range and the street. Oh yeah no gun to clean, no brass to police and you are still clean.

The cost isn't bad. $30.00 for the first 1/2 hour and $10.00 dollars for each 1/2 hour. You get the instructors help and you shooting will improove. You friends tell you stuff all the time and you blow it off. The instructor is paid to tell you and you listen. If anyone is interested I'll get more info. I'll be going back for sure. Later,

I would love to try something like that. Probably illegal in California.

I have used those systems on many occasions. Kinda fun for judgement.

Yeah, laser guns have got to be outlawed in CA by now. And if they aren't, I'm sure the regulations would take the fun out of owning a laser gun anyways :jester:

If you have enough coins you can put this one in your man room. Just rub your neck and write a check! :tooth: Later,

One thing that is tough is a few of the situations there is an awesome female offender. Why is that a problem? Distraction, when trying to tripple tap her in the chest when she pulls a gun. Just an observation from a normal guy. :angel2: Later,

A threat is a threat. Man, woman, or 'child'.

Sounds awesome! Wish there was something like that here. What was it called? I'm thinking if I had the actual name of the system I could google locations for it, see if there are any within reasonable distance of me that I didn't know about. Also, if you go back, is it possible to get some pics?
