"SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Black Friday got off to a rowdy start at a San Antonio mall where police say one shopper pulled a gun on another who punched him in the face while they were waiting in line at a Sears store.

Police Sgt. Rob Carey tells the San Antonio Express-News (http://bit.ly/TiWY7V) a man rushed into the store when it opened Thursday night to get to the front of a line, started arguing with people and tried cutting in front of them.

One man who got punched pulled a gun and that scattered shoppers, including the impatient line-cutter who took cover behind a refrigerator. Then he fled.

Carey says the man with the gun had a permit to carry the weapon and isn't being charged with a crime."

Want to bet the line-cutter was not a native Texan? Probably some transplanted yamdankee who brought his lack of manners with him! Starting a fistfight in San Antonio can have some life-threatening consequences!

I guess depending upon the "scenario" I probably would have pulled my pistol after being hit in the face and called 911 as well. If he came at me again I have no doubt I would have put 3 in the middle of his chest at that point. Before you attack me, remember this guy was already struck in the face. A second attack and Iam going to shoot the prick.

I would have probably struck him in the face, and never even considered drawing my pistol.

Aw C'mon, who wants to go shopping on Black friday if you can't even shoot line cutters?

I will not be caught ever on a "Black Friday" whatever but on the other hand, great BBQ, live music joints and the right attitude by the government on self defense, San Antonio is growing on me!
If this post is non welcomed, I can always give you a recipe for making "tostones".

That's my point Ned.....wussies these days pull a pistol first.....back in the day.....you and I would've have a knock-down drag out behind a none used building .....nobody fights with their fists anymore.....so we can't....gotta pack cause you don't wanna be the guy bringing a knife to a gun-fight....now it's kill or be killed.....used to apply to war.....but now it applies to just going to the ATM!

Plenty of people are beaten to death with nothing but fists and feet very year. Damned if I am going to be one of them. Attack me and I am going to defend myself with the best thing available at the time. That is just the risk you take when you decide to attack someone.

Hate to tell you this sir but there are those of us out here who aint got much fight (hand to hand style) in us. What exactly am I supposed to do when some 220 lb much stronger fella starts kickin my ? Stand there and let him do as he wishes or use whatever tool is at my disposal? You going to go toe to toe with Mike Tyson?? I'd love to watch that one... My wife is about 110 soakin wet she supposed to just let the guy kick her ? Or should she fight back with whatever tool she has?

It has nothing to do with being in Texas. I just didn't change my opinions much about self defense when I started carrying a handgun. I just added another option to compensate for the increasing number of nutjobs who want to take 50 people with them when they commit suicide, or the increasing number of meth-heads who can't distinguish between who looks like prey and who doesn't.

I'd take a punch and/or walk away a hundred times before I pull the gun. Last resort for me. No line cutting *-hole is worth even the possibility of seeing my kids through prison glass. Active shooter, robber, methed out psycho is one thing, an aggressive shopper is not even in the ballpark...

I was in a store with My father years ago when a Russian guy pushed him out of the line, unprovoked and for no reason, I simply grabbed the Russian guy by the scruff of the neck and hauled him to the end of the line and deposited him there and had the store detective keep an eye on him, no gun play of any type was necessary, even though I was an active LEO at the time.
