Nothing wrong with either choice in my opinion. Both are good guns with people who swear by them. Hold em', fondle em', shoot em if you can, then pick the one you like...Also, look at the XDs too.
Both are good, I prefer the Glock 19 as I didn't like the feel on the M&P. The Springfield Armory XD is a good choice as well, I have the Glock 19 and the XD9 and prefer the Glock 19 just slightly over the XD.
I love my Glocks. My second choice would be the XD. I did not like the feel of the S&W polymer guns, hey just aren't comfortable for me. Handle all 3 and see what feels best and points naturally to you. You will know which one is right for you by the way it feels in your hand.
No, I do not have a pink fuzzy bunny fetish but apparently my Facebook hacking wife does.
if you have any gun rental ranges where you live, go find out if they have one or the other to try. even others too. you can even ask friends/relatives about it too.
iac, any one will do. of course it will depend on what you want and how much you want to spend on it and accessories
I have an M&P 9mm and I really like it. However mine has a Pro Series trigger and has been worked over. I consider the standard trigger to be unacceptable. If you aren't doing any modifications, I would get a Glock

In the same breath I really like the M&P as far as a full size pistol goes. I have never handled (can't say I even seen one in a LGS) a M&P compact.
If I were in the market for a full size polymer auto the M&P along with a G-17 would be neck and neck.
Comparing a G-19 to the full size M&P isn't exactly an apple to apples example.
Both outstanding pieces of equipment but each differs from the other in size.

Simple google search will get you more opinions than you want on the matter. Right up there with which is better AR or AK?
As many folks have said before...
Can't go wrong with a Glock, XD, or M&P.
Comes down to how each feel to the individual.
I went Gen4 G19. Feels great in my hand. Most carried LEO gun in the world I believe.
