Nowhere else but Texas!

Was at the car wash this afternoon getting my truck cleaned up after all the recent rain. I had left my truck with the people at the vacuum station and went inside to get my receipt, while standing there wondering around the shop one of the supervisors walked I with a towel and asked for the owner of a white Mercedes. An elderly sweet looking grandmother type lady said "That's me"; the attendant walked over and to the sweet looking little old lady said "Ma'am, you left this in the car and we thought you might better hold on to it while your car is in the wash then handed her the towel. I had to laugh to myself when I saw her embarrassed look and tell the attendant "Thank you!"; you could easily tell it was a handgun wrapped up in the wash towel.

This is why our crime rate is pretty low around here, grandma will bust a cap in your butt if you get out of line! More power to her, I just hope she is a little more careful in the future.

Ah, Texas gals! I love 'em!

I've told this before but it's a true story... gal I was dating for quite a while (3-4 years), I'd asked her what she wanted for Valentines and I was thinking dinner out, candy, maybe some new cowgal boots, but she said "I'd really like a new 9mm pistol." So we went to the gunshop, the guys were very attentive helping her choose, and she picked a compact nine that fit nicely in her purse.

She's not a native Texan but she is a true Southern gal and will never leave Texas now that she's here.

You know its kinda funny because when I was telling my wife what happened with the sweet looking little old lady and her gun she remarked "I'm one of those but I never leave my gun in the car!"

My wife has her CHL too and I can tell you guys, that woman is one you don't want to mess with; she can shoot! You're right Sam, them Texas gals ain't nobody to mess with!

Great story!

Man, if that happened here in California there would have been 3 police helicopters, 5 news helicopters, 5 armored SWAT vehicles, 6 K9 Units, City, County, State, DHS, TSA, ATF, FBI, NSA ...and a beating.

That was what I thought was so cool, they came in discretely asked who owned the car and gave them their gun inside the store and thought noting of it. No many states are like that.

I had a deal working for a pristine older model nickel plated S&W .44 Magnum with a 'non-gun' type of guy who traded an old pickup for it. He had approached me to make sure of its minimum value before closing the deal. I assured him that he could easily get the $500 he required for the truck value, and told him I'd make him a fair offer after doing some research. The deal with me fell through because his wife fell in love with it....after shooting it...and wouldn't hear of selling it.

When I got my State Farm renter's insurance policy, my agent had a form where I listed home possessions like stereo, TV, etc. There was a special page for firearms with headings "make", "model", "caliber" etc. I mentioned this to my agent and she shrugged and simply said "This is Texas."

My wife has latched onto a number of my firearms like that... Yes, she is a native Texan.

So far, I've "lost" a 6" stainless Ruger Blackhawk .357 and a .30-06 Mauser to Mary- - - -"I like this one- - - -it's mine- - - -go build yourself another one!" No problem- - - -she can shoot both of them well, and also the Remington 1100 16 gauge and the Mossberg 500 turkey gun I built for her!

Went away to college over 30 years ago, met and married my college sweetheart while there. Upon graduation we moved back to Texas. When we got married she owned a cat and didn't like guns or my 90lb German Shepherd. Fast forward and we have two grown sons, 2 dogs, 0 cats, and of the 16 handguns in the safe 7 are hers (to go along with her CHL). Additionally she has a Mossberg 500 shotgun and has been looking longingly at my AR recently. More importantly she's put up with me for more than a quarter century. Life has been good!

My 3rd was a St Louis peace-nick. But she could pick up a strange 1911 and drill the center of the X at 15 yards. Never could get her to enjoy grits much though.
